Non erotic/adult books and RTs.

I was reading a novel over the weekend which featured the demise of a female who was apparently murdered. An ME arrives does a few things then gets ready to take her body temperature using a rectal thermometer.

The only other book I can think of it Frances Farmer's autobiography, "Will there really be a morning?" in which she describes how on admittance to a psych facility had to have her temperature taken and it was done rectally.

Anybody familiar with other non adult/medical erotica books that have dealt with or alluded to the practice?

I’m sure in psych wards it’s definitely a possibility....I saw a video of a violent edp’s (emotional disturbed person) who got violent at the psych er and once they subdued the patient with a shot....the main tech nurse said we’re gonna need a rectal temperature taken on this patient he might have hypothermia and some other bunch of stuff they needed to do on him....but the one that sticked out for me was the rectal temp...I’m like wow I guess it’s still used in emergency rooms !!!!

In one of the recent books by Stephen King ( ''the Institute'') a group of teen with special paranormal powers are held prisonners in some kind of medical institution.

They have to go though various medical tests and then have their temperature taken rectallly. As teenagers, they feel humiliated by this procedure.

I'm not aware of RT's being written about,but I did meet a woman years ago, who had been temporarily committed to a psych ward, and she complained how she hated having her rectal temperature taken. I kind of wondered if the nurse intentionally made it uncomfortable, in order to discourage her from returning after discharge.

Several Stephen King books mention rts or suppositories.

Years ago I compiled a list and thought I lost it but I found it in a forgotten folder on my computer. I don't even remember the details for most of these books but most had an explicit description of the RT.
