Not really at the Pediatricians but in a Hospital, when I had my tonsils removed at the age of.... somewhen in Kindergarten!
I needed to stay in Hospital for... well I would say at least a week, for it felt AGES long, but you know how it is with a kids memory 😄
I remember lying in bed before the surgery and being all excited, when a nurse entered and saying something like "taking temperature" and she had this big box with her with a blue and a red knob with cables protruding from one side. My Mom stayed with me the whole time and they talked something and then the nurse said "... actually in here we always measure in the butt" and my mom looked at me as if she wanted to apologize and said "oh. We've gotten used to using the ear." But then there was no helping it.
The nurse left that thermometer with us and my mom told me to lie on my side. She always had this chamomile hand cream with her wich she used as lube then. I think this is where my connection with "taking temperature" and that smell comes from. So she pulled down my pants and i smelled that smell and I was.... sort of excited, because I remember having interest in my butt ever since and I think she then pulled by cheeks apart and .... aaah.... that feeling. That very feeling. When I watched my mom doing whatever with that thermometer and sliding the red knob out, wich then presented itself to be the end of a long white ..."pen",I thought "that looks long. And pointy! And its going up my butt," and thats pretty much exactly how it felt. Pointy! Do you know how it feels like when u take something very thin and long and slowly slowy slide it into your ass? I think its mostly about the tip, it needs to have quiet an ancle. I remember it being kind of a stinging feeling... like... high and .... yes... stinging. And that I thought "hey! Do I remember that feeling? I think I do but i don´t know where from"
I can't quiet remember if that was the only time they came and checked my temperature, but from my nowadays perspective I think it wasn't. That box was most likely made to make a fever-curve over some days, why else make it so clumsy?
One other thing very remarkable for that particular hospital-visit, that shaped my fantasies and medfet, was the constant presence of suppositorys. I don't know how often they came. Once a day? Twice a day? Always bringing in suppositorys. Always lying on my side. Always Always Always getting things shoved in my bum. I can't deny i sort of liked it. I still to, mind me...
My mom brought a lot of books so she could read to me in hospital. A lot of them were from a series "the little raven". Don't know if that ever got translated into english, don't think it did. Anywhow, there was also a book called "the little raven gets sick" where... well guess what happens. The raven gets sick and then mama badger takes care of him and blaa blaa. well in one point he is well again and all his friends come to visit and he tells big stories about how the doctor cut of his wings and sewed them back on and he has super cold handy and.... here it omes.... "taking you temperature is very dangerous!" and thats when my mom would aways look at me and say "isn't that so?"
