I know that this relates to another thread that is popular here ("What was the last object ...?"). But I see it as as a news item worthy of its own heading ...
The ABC (Australia) radio news today announced the latest, i.e., 2020, Ig Nobel Prize awards, and read out a list of the topics that won prizes. Rightly or wrongly, one of those was reported to be a study of objects found pushed up bums. (It's possible that an over-eager ABC journalist mis-read an item from the Web - I was under the impression that that particular topic was a prize-winner of an Ig Nobel Prize back in 2017. Nonetheless, it may be worth sharing the details here.
Among the items listed: golf ball; peanut butter jar; curtain rod; toothbrush; toothbrush holder; spray bottle; plus there was someone's report that he 'stuck a toy in his rectum because he thought he was constipated'.
(That list is given in an article, "Further findings from rectums ...", by Barry Petchevsky, on the Improbable.com website.)
For further coverage, check out an article in 'The Guardian' for Friday 18 September 2020 by their Science Editor, Ian Sample. It begins: 'Frozen poo and narcissists' eyebrows studies win Ig Nobel prizes. Gongs also awarded for research into vibrating earthworms, French kissing and bellowing alligators.' No mention is made of objects-up-bums, thus seeming to confirm that a rushed ABC journalist slipped up.
