Many years ago, just before puberty, our RN grandmother taught us to enema ourselves. The following is what she taught us.
1) Use two quarts of warm water with salt and baking soda.
2) Hang the bag no more than 24 inches above your bottom.
3) Use the knee chest position or lay on your back with your feet pulled back to your bottom.
4) Take your time, the slower you go, the less likely you’ll cramp.
5) Breathe deep through your mouth, if you feel a cramp starting and stop the flow.
6) Once the bag is empty, hold it for ten minutes before you go to the toilet.
7) There will be times when you’ll find, your colon isn’t in the mood to receive an enema. Wait a few hour.
We followed what she taught us as preteens into adulthood, and it worked 95 per cent of the time. She sure was correct, when she told us, there be times when your colon isn’t in the mood for an enema.
