Testicle ultrasound

I had a testicle ultrasound twice and my penis wasn't covered for the actual exam.

First time it was a bit of an urgency and got examined by two female Docs. After a short interview I just lowered my undies and my willy might have been quite shrunken as it didn't seem to get in the way of the exam at all. They were discussing the finding as it went, which was quite interesting...

On a follow up visit, initially the nurse encouraged me to just get rid of the undies and hop on the table, but I let her cover me first with a little towel and then lowered the undies hehe. Then the Doc got rid of it and mid-exam she told me to hold my penis up, once it started to get in the way.

Both times there was no chance my stubby would stay flipped on my abdomen or under a towel ;-)

I've had this done a few years ago when I felt a lump on my testicle and my Doctor sent me for Testicular Ultrasound. I arrived at the clinic and checked in at the front desk, sat down and waited to be called back. I young mid 20's female technician opened the door and called my name. As we walked back to the exam room which was kind of dark she asked me if I'd ever had this procedure done before. My answer was no! She then told me to remove everything from the waist down, lay down on my back and use the sheet that was folded up on the bed to cover just me legs leaving my testicles exposed. She also mentioned that there was a small towel to cover my penis.

Simple answer, no. Although yu will probably have to lower your underwear a professional tech will always cover your penis with a towel. I know my radiation tech well and he still uses a towel. Fun to think differently but in reality, it probably isn't going to happen.

Indeed - You'll see the official rule (here on the American side of the pond) was just inadvertently / unknowingly rehearsed - a few replies back .

Patient remains draped as much as possible including/especially "sensitive areas" - which are always kept covered during the exam except for brief deliberate "episodes" or "rotating cycles" of exposure-and-recovering - during which the examination is continued!

I had a paper towel covering me so only my testicles were exposed. It felt a lot less exposing than when my GP examined me.

The frequency with which the tech for this is female is ... startling.

Not really surprising I suppose. But still, walk into any woman's health center these days and you can swear that the mere surplus of testosterone you've brought with you into the demesnes is leading all of them to look at you like your skin was blue. Which, also, is just fine. And I think more women have issues / concerns with male health providers, particularly in the area of "female problems" than do men.

Still, I guess I would have expected to start seeing a parallel migration to same-sex techs being assigned.

Unless...perhaps the ladies all rush to sign up for shifts first? 😉

Exactly!

It's all part of the double standard where women techs do testicular sonograms and men DON'T do mammograms.

As a guy who had to have a mammogram (they tried but guys don't really fit in the machine) I had the experience of being the only male in the 'Woman's Health Center' and I was treated as such.
