Stethoscope in the fridge?

I know this might sound quite bizarre, but is there anyone who puts his stethoscope in the fridge before auscultation? I've done it several times and it was very nice to feel that ice cold stethoscope on the skin.

Might actually try this. My stethoscope doesn't have a non-chill rim so is pretty cold anyways but anything to make it even colder on the skin would be good. Might sound bizarre like you say but then again I also enjoy a cold shower to wake me up in the morning every day!

I thought all doctors and nurses kept their stethoscopes in the fridge until they were needed. Right next to the bedpans and those EKG patches.

I have not tried refrigerating the stethoscope before performing a play exam on MrsFn. I may have to try this. I do often soak the various speculum I use in a bowl of ice water. She likes how the first insertion takes her breath away.

I bet a cold stethoscope would feel good on a nipple.

@Allie80 --I would be happy to listen to your nipples with my (fresh out of the freezer) Littmann Cardiology III steth. While I only see female patients and I have my patients bare chested for the stethoscope exam, I haven't listened to anybody's nipples.

Tried this yesterday and it was very nice feeling that super ice cold stethoscope on my skin. Definitely brought me to attention simultaneously on my nipples and inside my boxers!

Use an ice pack in the exam room.

I've never tried it as I wasn't sure whether it would ruin the stethoscope but I do love, and I mean love, a cold stethoscope.....hmm maybe I should try it

No way I would risk damage to one of my Littmans but I would probably try this with a cheap one like the pharmacy sells.

I know that it's pretty popular to have a cold steth on the skin. I once told a girl about my fetish (got drunk and brave) and she was curious so asked a couple of questions and then said "oh right well it's sexy having some cold on your skin when you're turned on"... I was in shock haha. I've never tried this on myself though I prefer to listen to others.

Definitely try to do so soon.

This is a great idea. When I have a few stethoscopes, at least a couple will definitely be chilled, to enhance the sensations.

I tried this ones. The stethoscope was colder and I liked it but I had hard to hear my heartbeat. My stethoscope is quite cheap so maybe I buy Littmann someday and there is no that problem anymore 😃

I always do it. Moreover, also when I move out of my place to the patient's house I put in my bag an ice pack as closer as possible to the steth so that when I examine the patient (female) it is very cold. So arousing for both.

I must admit I've done it a few times for my own enjoyment - works best on a hot day!

Indeed for those who like it nice and cold it makes a great feeling the ice cold stethoscope going over our bare chest or tummy. 😃

I don't know about the freezer, but maybe the fridge. Or next to an ice pack. Or in a more clinical setting, maybe keep the stethoscope in a cabinet right under an air conditioning vent… just a subtle change to keep it more realistic? Definitely a fan of cold stethoscopes, though I'd rather use one on someone else, preferably a cute girl.

If I used several stethoscopes in a role-playing game with a girl, one of them would definitely be placed in the refrigerator. It's very exciting when you anticipate the touch of cold metal.

No. I imagine it's not good for the materials if you happen to forget it's in there.

Probably ok for one with all-metal components, but I wouldn't with some of the 1980s and 1990s Littmann stethoscopes. The diaphragm retaining ring on the Classic II and Cardiology II/IISE is often very fragile, and the spares aren't available (believe it or not the Classic IISE one isn't 100% compatible).
