Well, moving to assisted living gives me less opportunity than ever, especially when there're employees who think nothing of walking right in without knocking. I usually have to bank on every other mid-morning when I shower and can wander about the room with little fear.
I'm also currently in assisted living, and initially had a problem with the hands just walking in. Also, with uninvited checking on me at every shift change. Here are a couple things I did to alleviate those issues. Maybe they'll be able to help you.
I have an industrial quality label maker, so I made a label for my door that says “PLEASE KNOCK BEFORE ENTERING”. Half inch high block letters at eye level . . . problem solved. I also have one on the inside of the door that says “PLEASE CLOSE DOOR GENTLY”.
The shift change checking took a little more effort. I talked with the administrator and explained to her: 1> the uninvited checking was an invasion of privacy, 2> I'm here for physical reasons only and am not in danger of vapor-locking nor am I a fall risk, 3> my room is my home and I am entitled to quiet enjoyment of it. She agreed on all points and put out on the employee's group chat that I was immune from the check at shift change.
There's a high turnover among the hands here (understandably so – it's not an easy gig) and sometimes there's a gap before the new ones get on the group chat, and I get checked on. So, about a week ago, I made another door sign. “PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB (UNLESS PAGED) BETWEEN: 2100 (9 PM) AND BREAKFAST SERVICE”.
That has solved the problem. They come around before 2100 and pick up the trash. Breakfast service is about 0830 so I have a decent time interval to frolic nude and do whatever else I'm of a mind to do. Life is good.
Hopefully, you'll be able to do something similar and achieve uninterrupted time for fun.
