I have never been one to take large quantities of water volume (even after 50+ years of the enema lavage practice) here,
only 3 quarts total being the maximum volume of water, from only 2 quarts as long as 30- 40 years back but....
When it comes to holding time for this amount of liquid, I have been rather surprised recently, to notice that I have progressed to it being as long as a bit over an hour in duration, before I will get off the exam table and need to release that water. Even then, I can walk casually to the bathroom and not until I get into the squatting position, will I really feel a need to let it all go.
I am consistently using 1 teaspoon of good quality mineralized salts per quart (after many months of experimentation) with different ingredients.
I do not use soapsuds of any kind but do add a tablespoon of good quality glycerin to this salt mixture most of the time.
What has brought me to being able to hold so long these days is actually a mystery to us both. There will be quite a bit of deep (40 inches plus)
colon tube insertion and re-insertion as well during that hour.
One thing we do always, I am given the volume of warm water very slowly (as in, 15 minutes) or so. The slow introduction of the water causes no desire then, to defecate. So I never would have thought that I could take the quantity nor hold that water, as long as we do these days, but as long as it feels comfortable doing this, I suppose we will continue.
