Can you explain why you were ready to be examined alone?
Answer from a different member than you asked, but here it is anyway.
From my experiences when young, ,there were various reasons why I most certainly did not like parents (my mother overwhelmingly) accompanying me. Not that it did much good, but I still did not like it one bit.
First because my mother made a big production out of anything medical. For her it was potentially going to hear I had an incurable disease. She would go along, often wringing her hands in her lap, an anxious expression on her face as if at a funeral or being resigned to hearing the worst kind of news. I could not stand such motherly concern and therefore was always prone to minimizing any and all kinds of illnesses I did have (a sore throat, flu? - No mom, I can go to school. No problem). My mother was prone to expect the worst news from a doctor.
And second because all that motherly concern made me feel helplessly like a young child, with no say in anything. Quite humiliating and embarrassing actually. As if I had no basic knowledge of how to comport myself at a doctor's exam or was too stupid to understand anything.
I do know that at 17 she still accompanied me, later ages I am not certain of. But at 17 it was embarrassing enough.
Oddly though, she never came along to a dentist's appointment after I was 13 or so. Thank goodness for small mercies ...
