I don't find it strange in the least ,I adopted a little brother about 10 years ago , he opened my eyes to so much .
The place you can find alot of that type of stuff isn't kink it's "medical" , I am disabled so I see some weirder activities in the groups I am in , however my brother is on the autism spectrum , he loves bondage ,rubber , breath play ( he loves to take a role of saran wrap and wrap his entire head in it,yes he can do it because he has a trachea tube for ventilator ,so his breath play is screwing with his vent ) he's bi and absolutely loves being mummified or wrapped in heavy things ( he has an entire collection of old X ray shield lead blankets all sizes and shapes and bodysuits or tights ( he's nicked about 30 of my onesies, I wear them everyday as shirts or undershirts to cover and keep my Pp's & diapers where they need to be and to be neat and well dressed even when my body isn't co operating,my aide can dress me easily as i have about 25 different styles and closure mechanism , his use is not mine, i am sure as he doesn't need or use diapers)
However alot of semi kink stuff about wrapping heavy blankets etc happens in those groups ,because it may seem like kink to us ,if your on the spectrum its just a normal part of there daily life .also most of the harness/body restraints that we use in wheelchairs or special needs children/adult strollers is made of neoprene ,I use a ten point harness everyday my current one is 5 years old and still looks brand new ( it has enough "give" to be comfortable) well keeping you locked down in fixed position without the ability to get hurt( at wheelchair speeds) the "give" leaves no bruises as restraint holds you in place, I don't know at vehicle speed ,I have hit curbs full speed and somer saulted my chair without any injury or discomfort, scared the hell out of people who saw me do it.
Neoprene also tolerates just about anything from drool to excrement and when we aren't in our chairs can be sponges down or totaly disconnected and thrown in washer .
