(Cross-posted from "Discussions OMG so embarassing buying enema equipment!".)
I was as embarrassed as could be the first time I bought an enema bag when I was 22, out of town, and really wanted to enjoy a nice enema.
In my 50's, however, I developed a love of asking for an enema bag. I can think of pharmacy chains that don't carry them, but a couple that still do.
In those that don't, I'm often shown the micro-enemas but explain that I want an enema bag. Younger employees rarely know what I'm talking about, so I ask to see the pharmacist. When told "no", I say that I'll have to take my business to a competitor. Then I attempt to explain to the initial employee what an enema bag is, and I'll add, whenever given the chance, that I hadn't taken a laxative in over 40 years, but my enema bag has started to leak and needs replacing. I'll also try to fit in that she/he should try it if they ever get constipated.
In those pharmacies that do carry enema bags, I still often need to ask the pharmacist and afterwards, whenever possible, say the same speech to the initial employee. But first I ask the pharmacist how to administer an enema, offering that my late wife who was a nurse used to give them to me, but this is the first time in the couple of years since her death that I'd become constipated. When the pharmacist says that he/she doesn't know, then I say I'll have to ask a nurse, and I go outside. Eventually I return and claim that I spoke with her friend whose also a nurse who gave me detailed instructions. A couple of times the pharmacist, both times a young woman, asked me the details in case she ever was asked again. Then I'd pull out my pocket notebook and "read" them to her. Both times they became queasy. One frowned and then, when I mentioned height above the anus, looked almost nauseous. As for the enema bag I picked up but, of course, didn't need, either I abandoned it whenever I could, typically in the candy aisle, or else when I actually needed to purchase the bag, I gave it to charity the next time I donated clothes or whatnot.
