Boarding School in the UK and Medicals.

I went to boarding school starting in the mid 1970s. We had annual medical examinations in the same way most seemed to during those times. I also had to have another during the summer holidays from a paediatrician, which was sometimes carried out at home , or I went to a children’s clinic in the town.

After much teasing from my sister one year, as she knew the doctor was coming to examine me the following week, my mother explained that I had to be examined by a doctor from the local health authority because I went to school out of the county. My sister went to school locally, so didn’t have to have such medicals in the summer holidays.

Did anyone else experience this?
