I've written about this elsewhere on Zity, but here's a summary:
Had a young male primary care doc years ago, nurse would have me get completely undressed and give me a sheet as a drape. 10 minutes or so into the 30 minute or so exam, the drape was removed and the remainder of the exam nude.
His replacement was another male doc, exam gowned and in underwear, drop underwear for genital exam and DRE
His replacement was a female doc, exam fully clothed, drop trousers for DRE - no genital exam.
Next was a nurse practitioner - underwear for the entire exam (no gown), lower them for genital exam & DRE.
That was all at the same practice, then I moved.
PCP was a young female PA - exam was fully clothed.
Changed practices, saw young female PA - exam fully clothed, at first exam drop trousers for hernia exam - fully clothed since.
Definitely preferred the first experience. Although I prefer a female PCP, the first exam listed was much more thorough and intimate. He never had a nurse present and the atmosphere was always very relaxed - and doing the majority of the exam (to include reflex checks, range of motion, & etc.) completely nude was very… I don't know… exciting? humiliating? liberating? satisfying?
Unfortunately, that has been the standard by which I've judged all other physicals, and I've been continually disappointed
