Childhood enemas sitting the toilet

I don't remember much about the release other than happy to be done with it. All my enemas were on mom's bed or bent over on a stool in the bathroom. I would never give an enema on the toilet except maybe over my knee. You are fighting gravity sitting.

Took the meaning of the title a different way, as it reminded me of when young sitting on the toilet with nothing happening. It wouldn't be long till through the bathroom door I'd hear my mom calling out, "Any luck yet?" On, no I'd think to myself, while straining a bit without success... but answering "I'm okay!"... not to longer after, mom would be at the door, saying "okay, let me check.".... One time, being clever, I took a bunch of toilet paper and dropped it in, hoping to prevent observance of an empty bowl.. But anytime it reached the "let me check" point, I was done for, and I'd be left sitting on the toilet, only to hear the familiar sounds of the metal pot and box of Ivory Snow being taken out.

I think all of our moms learned the same enema procedure. In my case it was always as I lay over her lap as she cajoled me to relax and take nice deep breaths. According to her that would help my body draw the enema up higher into my bowels and be more effective, but it did have the effect of getting me to focus on my breathing rather than the warm soapy water that was flowing into me. I never recall getting cramps from any of her enemas so I guess she was really good at it. Growing up I was not fond of getting an enema and would try to talk my way out of one, but it never worked because she was very determined that I got a good cleaning out.

I never got an enema sitting on the toilet. All mine were face down on some towels on the bathroom floor as my mom used the bulb syringe on me. Naturally, after she got done using the syringe on me, I ended up on the toilet as I emptied my bowels of the Ivory soap laden water and the nasty stuff that had me plugged up.

Growing up my enemas were otk, till I was to big then over the tub.

A boyhood friend told me his mom gave him enemas while he was sitting on the toilet. He said she'd fill the bag with warm, soapy water and hang it on a purpose installed hook in the wall above and behind the toilet. She'd then lube and insert the nozzle while he was standing in front of the toilet, open the clamp, and have him sit down on the seat. She'd stay for a minute or so then leave with the water still flowing in. As soon as she left, he'd pull out the nozzle and poo out the solution.

I never found out if the enema actually made him poo or if his mom checked for results or what happened if the enema was not effective.

Never tried to take an enema while sitting on the toilet. As a child or an adult.

I've always had a bed, or at least a floor mat and some towels

The only enemas I ever took while sitting on the toilet were ones I gave myself, and I didn't care for them. Too hard for me to relax and enjoy the enema while trying to hold the nozzle in place without leaking while draining the bag. Balloon cath would probably work, but still isn't a comfortable position for me. And comfort is primary with me. Mom's enemas were either laying over the toilet or the side of the tub or on the floor, never in a sitting position.

The second of the only 2 enemas my mother gave me I was on the toilet. I assume that was to eliminate the risk of an accident. The first was laying on my back in the tub, presumably also a "safe" place. Both were with a bag.

Nowadays the toilet would be very low on my list of places to take an enema.

I never got an enema from mom or grandma while on the toilet. They were usually in the bathroom so the toilet was close by. I have given myself an enema or two while on the toilet. Sometimes the enema is being particularly difficult, not being able to take and hold more than a quart or so in my regular position. Then I will finish taking the rest of the bag while sitting on the toilet. It is not a preferred situation but sometimes we must improvise.

Starting as a 6 year old child and throughout my teenage years, all of my enemas were given on the toilet with Mom in front of me, raising and lowering the bag and clamping the hose on and off.

OMG I can remember those days sitting on the toilet trying to go potty without being able to go. You all know what happens next when mom would come in to inspect. Out comes the bag from the closet with the hose, and nozzle. Next is the vaseline jar with the ivory liquid. Those were the days!

As a child, I never had enemas in sitting. I always had to kneel in front of the toilet on all fours. Then my mother pressed the contents of two or three bulb fillings into the intestine. If the following result was not as desired, the procedure was repeated several times.

My first girlfriend got her "Mom enemas" on the toilet. She said she always cried, begged her mom not to do it, begged her to stop. Her mom was apparently an "efficient, but not sympathetic" giver. I gave her enemas regularly, the first coming when she didn't want her mom to do it. I always gave them to her on her bed, either lying on her side or bottoms up. She didn't mind them from me, and I often used them to help her with her period cramps--hot water, not huge amounts of water, and she found them soothing, but of course thought I was obsessed, as of course I was. She did like never being constipated as long as she was with me.

I never had an enema sitting on the toilet. As young child I got the bulb OTK while mom sat on the toilet. And I would get generally four good bulbs of hot ivory soap water. Then of course i would have to hold it for several minutes to let it work. I do remember on a some occasions, sitting on the toilet attempting though to poop and my mom would check to see if everything was alright and if I didn’t go or wasn’t able, occasionally a suppository would be given but more often it was enema.

One thing I noticed, now that i do enemas on the toilet, is that more cramping occurs, It seem that since I am sitting upright any air in my colon is pushed up farther into my colon. Especially noticeable in the transverse segment

I was always got my enemas sitting on the toilet. I would have to lean forward while the nozzle was inserted then I could sit back while I was filled. I always got bad cramps from having to be in that position. Much more comfortable now days being on my side or on all fours.

Enemas from mom were over the lap with a bulb syringe or when older on knees leaning over the edge of the tub with a bag.

Many a time when sitting on the toilet after receiving my soapsuds enema I would think about not having to have another enema that day. Mom and sometimes Grandma would be waiting in the bathroom for my results talking about "she might need another enema".

I can only remember one enema that I had to take while sitting on the toilet. The hated “Aunt Erika” wanted to demonstrate to my mom how to do quick-acting enemas that can also be given as “educational enemas.”

The equipment was just reinforced with an enamel irrigator, which was used for this enema.

“Aunt Erika” bent me slightly forward in front of the toilet, pushed a spherical nozzle through my sphincter and directed me into a sitting position on the toilet. Mom was allowed to open the clamp, my ears heard the terrible “click.” I immediately felt the soapy water filling my rectum from below, inevitably triggering the urge to defecate.

I heard "squeeze your buttocks together...", shortly afterwards it was too late; everything shot out.

I don't know why everything always had to be redone. This cup filling reached my inner being as a whole.

Mom didn't seem to like these types of enemas either; she never did these to me.

This takes me back many many years. ‘Twas back in the 40s I recall. My parents were on vacation and I was 8 or so being cared for by our family maid (Sadie). I got sick or something, our Dr. was called (house call) and after looking me over quietly gave her some instructions (which I overheard) ending with the dreaded word “enema”. Later that day my favorite uncle stopped by in the afternoon and he and Sadie began discussing my fate. Knowing an enema was coming the anticipation, apprehension, and dread began building as I heard them bustling about between the linen closet and the bathroom, water running, clink of the Vaseline tin on the sink, then…footsteps.

I was invited to the bathroom where I was informed that Dr. Mac wanted me to have an enema (surprise) and to strip down. But things were different as the half full enema bag was resting in the sink, not hanging from the medicine cabinet door (as was my mother’s practice) allowing a five foot drop to my unwilling bum on the floor resulting in a painful traumatic ordeal. Surprisingly, my uncle asked if I wanted the enema bending over the tub, lying down or sitting on the toilet. I jumped at the novel toilet option and found myself bending over as I was lubed, my bum gently probed for the opening and the nozzle sliding in. As I was seated on the toilet he informed me I would need to hold the nozzle, and keep it from slipping out. I could hardly contain my joy as I snuggled it in. Next, my uncle is in front of me holding the bag, releasing the clamp, after a few moments asking me if I could feel it (no) then raising the bag (still nothing) then raising it even more while rolling it down creating more pressure as I blissfully moved the nozzle about (nope). For a minute or so not a drop flowed and to this day I have no idea what went wrong with my first on the toilet enema.

This led, of course, to Plan B. After refilling and testing the bag with a new warm SS solution (it worked), I was positioned on the floor and when asked where mom hung the bag I pointed to a hook (for the shower curtain) about 2 feet above my bum. This time everything worked wonderfully; the flow was gentle and deep, no cramping, and I got to “hold” the nozzle again. As the bag neared empty my uncle suggested adding the last of the solution from the quart mixing container which I “reluctantly” agreed to.

After several thorough and rewarding expulsions I felt like a champ on a victory lap. To my dismay, it was not over when both Sadie and my uncle insisted on my first ever rinse enema following the SSE.

Deep down inside me something was waking….

This is not a childhood account, but I have never had any success with enemas sitting on the toilet. The first enema bag I bought while in college had instructions regarding doing an enema while seated on the toilet. I always wondered how you would do that. Fast forward to being home from the hospital with opioid induced constipation. My wife would not help me with an enema, and the phone call from the nurse simply said it will work its way out. Since my surgery resulted in a immobile shoulder I could not lie down, and had no fleet enemas at home. So I thought I would try the sitting on the toilet method. What a disaster. the nozzle wouldn't stay in and I could not hold any reasonable amount. I next tried standing in the shower, no better result. I guess you can't fight gravity. So I gave up. Two days later I passed a turd which was so large it caused an anal fissure. I wound up at a proctologist for treatment. She was also anti-enema, so I just toughed it out. I vowed, never again. So now I insist on a total cleanout with a soapsuds enema before being discharged.

This is how mom gave me enemas using a bag, all previous enemas were given with a small white bulb, when I graduated to the bag she would have me sit on the toilet, the part I don’t remember is I must have had to hold the nozzle in my bottom, she always used the small straight enema nozzle. I believe I was around 10 when the enemas stopped, which I believe it was due to very hard erections that were very obvious, she never said anything about it they just stopped

Mom's enemas were never given while sitting on the toilet. Her ritual (that we all learned from an early age) required presenting an open fanny by either laying across the closed toilet seat lid or over the side of the tub. I tried giving myself an enema that way a couple times but found it to be awkward and uncomfortable.

I can't imagine how an enema while seated on the toilet would be very effective or comfortable. Mine were never done that way. My first ones were with me lying on back in the tub with feet raised with my butt toward the drain.

Why fight gravity? It's much easier and effective if your gut is inverted so gravity helps the process. Once mom was confident I wouldn't make a mess (leak) my enemas were given with me on hands and knees (or elbows and knees) on the bathroom floor.

As kids my siblings and I never got enemas sitting on the toilet. Mom gave us enemas together laying across our bed. She would have us lay face down on our stomach or face up on our back with feet pulled back. She did give us enemas in private laying across her lap but only after a spanking. As we got older, she moved us from the bedroom to the bathroom for enemas in the knee chest position. With grandma, we got enemas laying across her lap or the knee chest position as we got older. It was the same with our teenage aunts with one exception. Grandma had a big downstairs bathroom with a large walk-in dual head shower making it convenient for the girls to put us in the shower together. Then they got in too bath us and keep order. As one girl bathed us, the other girl washed out the enema bags and hung them up. This led to the girls giving us rinse enemas standing in the shower leaning over. It didn’t happen that often, maybe once or twice a month. It was kind of like the knee chest position but only from the waist up bending over. Whenever they gave us enemas like that, they were fairly quick with no hold time. Other than that, the normal routine was followed using a curved douche nozzle to fill us up then removed so we could release.

The first time the girls used that method, they had started late and were in a hurry to finish. So, once they finished with our soapy enema in the knee chest position, they had us get in the shower. We were a bit puzzled over how they were going to do our rinse enemas, but we soon found out. They showed us how they wanted us to stand with our legs spread apart and bent over. I’ve no idea where they came up with doing enemas like that, but with warm water running over you, it sure was different. And once the girls realizing we liked it, they not only used it when they were in a hurry but during normal evenings when things got playful in the shower. When that happened, there was usually another round of enemas all around standing bent over in the shower for everyone.

In a small pamphlet that came with one of the fountain syringes I purchased there were instructions for taking an enema sitting on the toilet and leaning forward.

Those few enemas I got on the toilet as a kid taught me one thing, quick in and quicker out. When rushed, mom might get a pint or so in and it triggered a quick BM.

As I aged, if I just had to have an enema, it didn't matter if I only took one on the toilet. I certainly prefer a nice long slow enema while reclining, but a quickie preemptive enema on the terlet clears the way for a good large volume with the colon tube. 24" of insertion gets a couple of quarts where it needs to be.

With recent back surgery, it's much easier to take a quick enema while seated. That doesn't mean an occasional thorough cleanse has been abandoned.

I had one once and I never told my mother when I was constipated, ever again.
