Personally again out of preference I prefer all plastic backed ones, simply because they offer more protection against leaks and are reminiscent of the ones I wore as a child.
As for environmental concerns plastic backing is no better or worse than fabric ones all disposable diapers create waste when thrown out, in fact I am dissusted to see how many are just thrown away and not in bins by this I mean in hills or in bushes in the third world countries, no offence meant but it's bad in the philippines and other parts of South East Asia.
I myself wear diapers from time to time as many of you already know, although I do the responsible thing and always throw them in the bin yes they may make it to a landfill and that's discusting too as I am not a fan of landfills when there are so many other alternatives like digestive disposal systems not human by the way such as biodigradable processes or even turning them back into fuel for power plants as long as there's no emmitions from the power plant in question.
And clean waste disposal is the way of the future although it's expensive to implement it is effective and as long as it's done right can be environmentally kinder than just tossing them away.
So yes I am a little bit pro green that is to say environmentally aware although in the long run plastic is bad but there are ways to break it down rather than it take 40+ or more years for the environment to do this also diapers can be used for potting of garden plants, in other words cut one open if it's relatively clean remove and then put the fluff and any gel crystals into a plant pot or other such thing then add the soil or compost and then add a tree or bush water it well and the plant will have a good source of water retention and you won't need to water it so much the tip is on YouTube so if your interested look it up.
Also look up environmental ways of sadly disposing of trash to see what I mean in my earlier point, and on another point of debate diapers are far more environmentally better than when I was a child in the 1980's when the typical one used to take up to 1,000+ years to decompose, although this is thanks to environmental groups pressuring the governments of the world to do more to combat this problem and newer plastic products that are now biodigradable.
And yes I am aware of the problem with plastic entering the environment and that's why I am a keen environmentalist in terms of supporting what both Greenpeace and other groups are saying.
Yours sincerly
