Always like 1st Time

Why is it that no matter how many times you take someones temperature rectally that it always still feels like its the first time. The nervousness and anticipation always feels like it is brand new, even if you have taken it before for this person. Do any of you have the same or different feeling about this subject?

I can kind of relate. In some cases it may be the first time the patient is experiencing it (or at least as much as they remember). So that adds to it. Plus, especially for those of us into it, it’s kind of a special bond of trust and vulnerability between the patient and the person taking it, so the first time will be a little loaded with that anticipation.

Or maybe it’s just fun and I’m over thinking it. :-)
