@ Anoldguy, Stand Tall There Trooper and Vietnam Veteran! You've done well for our country! My husband is a Vietnam Veteran also. 1st Cavalry Division, 2/8th Inf, B&C companies, Iron Triangle area., III Corps. FSB, Buttons, David and the hell of Illingworth and the Cambodian invasion and many other places. Got blown up in Phouc Vinh during 122mm rocket attack. He was all over that God Forsaken Place. And he was a Volunteer! He came home in October of 1970 and he was no longer a boy. He was a changed man. Went to medical school at University of Michigan and thirteen years later he was an Orthopedic Surgeon.
He's retired now and he uses the VA In Ann Arbor, Michigan and the Hines & Jesse Brown VA hospitals in Chicago. I've been with him when he's had to have surgeries. He's currently 80% Service Connected By Agent Orange Exposure. His first exposure was at Fort Gordon, Georgia, Area 47 also known as Camp Crockett in 1969. Our country had tested Dioxin there in 1967.
He really likes the VA help. He says about 80 percent of the doctors are females. The care in Ann Arbor is better because there is no big rush there. In Chicago it's hospitals for the Veterans are flooded with the homeless and helpless from many neighboring towns from Illinois and Indiana. Tonight many will sleep in tents and boxes under bridges. And it's below zero there with the "Hawk" that's the Chicago wind battering every inch of that snowy city.
My husband has no problem with the female doctors at all. Many are very young like he once was. He has a fight on his hands now. He has Global Autonomic Neuropathy Dysfunction. He was diagnosed at Hines in August. This will be pinned to AO exposure which will give him 100% disability. The price he will pay is, there is no cure for this very rare disease. That's bad enough! He will be tested for Amyloidosis also and if positive the prognosis is even worse. However, you will never hear him complain!
Yes, You Two And Many More Were Soldiers! God Bless and Love You! Carry On Proud and Humble Warrior! Carry On!
With Love, GyneDoll Gwen
