Did Mom Get You Your Own Enema Bag / Bulb or Can ??
When I was about 12 and taking enemas on my own with the "family" bag (Mom and me, Dad NEVER did enemas), I asked Mom if I could have my own bag. She asked me why I wanted my own bag. I told her that it would be more convenient to keep a bag in my room so I could take an enema whenever i wanted to. She said no. She said that our enema bag was the only one that was needed. I thought that she really just wanted to control my enemas.
A few months later I asked Mom again. This time she said let me think about it. A few days later we were at the grocery store getting the weeks food. When we were done she said that since we were here the drug store was just next door.
She told me to come with her. When we were inside she went to the enema aisle and started looking at the different syringes. The lady pharmacist came over and asked if she could help.
Mom turned and asked me what kind of enema syringe I wanted. I was so embarrassed I just stood there and stammered. Mom said, come on speak up she doesn't have all day. The pharmacist asked politely if I wanted a bulb or a bag. I said a bag. She then asked if i wanted a closed top combination or an open top fountain syringe. I asked what the difference was. She said the combination was a hot water bottle as well as an enema syringe. The fountain syringe was just used for enemas. I looked at Mom who said it was up to me. I said an open top.
The lady asked if I knew which one I wanted. I said no. She open on box and showed us the red rubber 2qt syringe. While we were looking she got another box and opened it revealing an amber folding syringe and said that this one folds up and stores in a small pouch. I was intrigued and said that I'd like that one. Mom looked a bit startled but said OK.
As we were walking to the check out Mom stopped and asked the lady what was the largest bag they sold. She was shown a box. Mom took the box and read the back. She took the box with us.
After we had bought the items and was walking to the car Mom commented that now I had my own enema and she had one that she needed as well. She said that even though I had my own bag I still needed to let her know when I took and enema.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that had a similar experience.
