I never thought i'd need braces but then suddenly my orthodontist wanted me to wear them due to my gap between my upper teeth and my both molars being unaligned. So i got them placed, wearing them for like 3 years and now i only have permanent retainer on my lower molars. The appointment for having braces placed was my longest appointment of all so far
I had braces when I was a kid from 8 to 13 years old, thats when I stopped going to the dentist cause Ive had enough of it and I didnt want it anymore. But the most horrible thing I had to endure through orthodontics was wearing a chin strap, it was so uncomfortable and humiliating. Not painful at all but wearing it made me feel like an ET. Luckily I had to wear it like 2 hours a day and during the nights at home. My horror went real when I saw this poor kid wearing the same thing at school. Then I realized that my reality wasnt that bad.
I've had fixed metal braces now for 18 months and have had elastics for around the past 6 months. This is my first time with braces and I'm loving the experience.Unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to have molar bands or headgear.
I have a set of fake braces that I wear once in a while as the embarrassment of having adult braces is a turn-on for me. Braces fetish.
@ChrisRT……I have an album here in Zity that features A LOT of orthodontic (braces) pictures. Over 30 years ago, as a middle-aged adult, I experienced three years wearing braces, headgear, etc. If you share a braces fetish, go to my DENTAL FETISHES COLLECTION album to see some really nice, detailed pictures of dental braces. Due to minimal interest in this fetish, I have been considering taking that album down but I KNOW many people share this orthodontic kink. Let me know what you think.
@TM48 Please don't take down the album. It's one of the best collections of fullbands I've seen.I've never had orthodontic treatment, but I do have a set of fakes.
I had them as a teen. Ages 14 to 15. Awful experience. I felt so ugly in them and readjusting them always hurt like hell. Didn't have elastics I think. Also hated wearing that mouth guard at night, I could clean it all I want and the damn thing always wound up stinky and yellow.Plus it culminated in taking out my wisdom teeth at 16 and while I enjoyed the anesthesia part and wearing an oxygen mask in the PACU -hehheheee- I... feel a bit pained at the loss of my body integrity. Like, I don't know. Those were just teeth but they were mine and my parents decided for me. They decided that I'd have them out. It feels like a violation of my boundaries to be fair.
I just had my fixed upper + lower brackets (prmolars and fronts) removed 3 days before christmas, after 28 months. I had medium strength elastics during some of that time. Not a fan of the essix retainers, I did ask if I could get Hawleys 😢
