We are going to be buying the Recognizer Phase II Gyn chair from Style fetish in the next few months, we have been looking for a while for a suitable gyno chair like this for our playroom. Its pricey with the chair and all of the attachments and upgrades we want its going to run us 5200.00 US$, the shipping is about 3200.00 US$. We seen the US distributor in Ca but to get all the options we want we are going to be ordering direct from the manufacturer.

Its hard to justify this expense until you think about the years of fun you can have with this chair.

Why is the shipping so expensive?

My husband has had stereo components shipped that has weighed more than two thousand pounds, valued at more than a McLaren, and the shipping was less than that.

Hi Susie, that is what UPS told me to expect when I contacted them that's the carrier they will use to ship to the U.S. I guess its because its going to be delivered on two pallets shrink wrapped that and due to the weight ( I guessed it at 300 lbs). Also there is the import duty since the price with everything ( all the attachments and upgrades) is right at 5,200 U.S. But they could have it wrong they looked it up with a HTS code for medical equipment since its a Gyno chair but not sure which code Style Fetish will use.

They have a distributor in California but they just have the Super Boomer and are asking 7,600 without the extras, in Germany the super boomer is right at 4,000 U.S so a 3,600 markup I guess its due to the shipping and such.

I really hope its less than that but that is what I was told when I called UPS for a estimate, so I don't know if the shipping will actually be that much (Hopefully not). But Ill set it aside just in case, and if not we will have more to spend on some nice latex outfits 😃

Your statement about your husband shipping that much in gives me hope it will be a lot less than 3,200 (Hopefully).

I figured if we are going to spend that much might as well get all the extras for it which is one of the reasons we are going with the Recognizer Phase II chair and just loading up on the attachments. The chair itself without any extras goes for 2,000 U.S

I know its a stack of money for it but we really really want it in the worse way lol.

Interesting, I did not think UPS touched things over 140 pound and if I recall correctly, the price really goes up quickly at 70 pounds. Truthfully I have not shipped much and nothing heavy as of late but back when I did IT for a big company I would configure equipment and ship it literally all over the world. I got to be be pretty good friends with our UPS guy. He told me the rapid price increase over 70 pounds was because for over 70 pounds they were supposed to send two people out to fetch it. That normally did not happen.

My one personal experience shipping something large, and heavy across the world was a pair of very expensive vacuum tube amplifiers. The guy who bought them had wanted them for a long time, and he wound up buying a vintage Corvette and having that shipped to him, and in the end, I wound up shipping the amps to his friend on the west coast and the amps made their way to him tucked in front of the seats of the car. He told me they made no difference at all in the shipping price of the car.

It was a kind of hassle trying to get a answer from them, I called and it was a week later they sent me a email about it. I'm not sure about the weight limitation but there is a pallet size limitation, I would also need them to deliver it to me with a lift gate truck since I do not have a forklift. The weight was just a best guess, they said it would be shipped on two pallets the chair and the accessories and other items I will be ordering.

I also had to guess on the HTS code UPS wanted that as well to get a estimate on shipping, so that 3,200 is what they quoted me but its all a best guess on my part on what the actual HTS code is. On the Style Fetish website it says that shipping will be calculated once everything is in the shopping cart, and also says that any import tax is my responsibility.

I plan on having at least 3,200 additional to cover shipping and any import tax just so I don't get blindsided with a customs charge I'm not expecting, it would really suck to have it sitting in customs while I try to get the cash together to get it out lol. Shipping will probably be the highest cost, I dont think the tax will be that bad (hopefully).I will be ordering it towards the end of August once I do I'll post what shipping charges I'm hit with.

We ordered the Recognizer phase II chair from style fetish and pretty much all the upgrades including the fucking machine professional edition. The shipping was not as bad as I thought it was going to be at only $995 U.S dollars. The whole thing with shipping was just shy of 6k. Should be getting the unit around the beginning of February.

We ordered it through 665leather.com that is their U.S distributor, not sure if we can post pictures on this site but will if we can.

What about passing the Ikea couples test? Could you do that? It involves going to Ikea with preferably an SO/wife/gf and seeing if you can make purchases without getting upset at each other.

It's been used enough in American TV shows to become something of a trope. Here it is not known and I like to make jokes when I go to Ikea with a (lady) friend afterwards: 'Hey, we passed the Ikea test!' They don't know what I mean but when I explain they usually laugh in a somewhat knowing way as it implies some sort of intimacy or personal attachment to each other ... it's also a sort of way of saying we'd be good together, call it very low key flirting.
