How to use rare Euro equipment

So, I was finally able to order some rare enema gear from Germany, except there are no instructions. I consider myself very knowledgable when it comes to enema gear, but there are some devices and add ons to their equipment that have me baffled. I am posting pictures of the gear, and what I think the deal is, and if anyone knows how to work it for sure, let me know. There is a double balloon rectal catheter style nozzle with only one inflator, which seems to inflate both at the same time- could this be correct? Moreover, there is a yellow doo-hickey (see picture) on the inflation tube that I have yet to figure out. The top of the bag has an inflator input that I can only assume is used to add air for extra water pressure. Finally, the bag has two water flow valves- what up with that? I will send the pics to the administrator, and hopefully someone can shed some light on my confusion.

Yes you guessed correctly how your new double balloon rectal catheter works. Unlike the traditional double balloon rectal catheter type nozzle which is inflated with two separate inflation bulbs one for each balloons this new one is has two balloons those are connected so only one inflator is needed. Then also it is not possible adjust the pressure separately for each balloon.

What about the inflator input on the top of the enema bag, and the two flow stops (one on bag, and a traditional on the hose)? I can only assume putting air in the top of the bag pumps the water into the tube? Thanks though for writing in.

This is a German enema bag that I have had my eye on for some time now. I got it on ebay from the guy who runs the German enema equipment site. I think there is another one up for sale right now. It was a steal- i got the double balloon rectal catheter, an inflator, an anuscope, the enema bag, another nozzle, and a DVD of Euro enema porn for just 89 bucks. The double balloon rectal catheter alone is about 140 dollars on most sites- maybe more. I urge anyone who wants one to search "enemas" on EBAY to track down some rare gear.

Be cautious about using the DVD. Your DVD player may is usually set to play DVD for North America. DVD in Europe are for a different area. Your DVD player is normally set up to switch areas 5 or 6 times before it locks into an area and you will not be able to use the player for any other areas.

I want to be careful about giving advice or endorsing anyone since I'm sure not a medical professional. With that disclaimer, I have purchased several things from this supplier and have found them to be excellent quality. He is trying to keep a low profile, I think, so he is calling the DVD an instruction video. It is certainly interesting instruction, at least from my perspective. I have had no trouble playing it on my equipment and it did not do any sort of weird reset on any of the parameters as someone has worried.

As far as the yellow component on the hose goes, it is demonstrated in the instructional video, although it's not the most interesting part of the show! As I understand it, you inflate the nozzle, then pinch the yellow piece to seal the inflation. Then, while holding the yellow piece closed, unplug the inflator bulbs and replace the stopper in the end of the hose. This prevents the inflator bolts from coming loose from the nozzle at an inopportune moment.

This is not rare. i purchased mine on e-bay and am very happy with it. the instructional dvd plays as normal on any of my dvd players. it is of good quality. the nozzle ---i bought 2 ---was 55-75 dollars depending on the acessories. it works great, and i don't have to worry avout the lubricant i use. my expensive latex one broke all too quickly. do not be afraid to order this item. thanks---thought everyone should know. it is made by rusch---a medical supply house.

Double balloon rectal catheter is sometimes necessary with my enemas,and it does make me feel comfortable to know its held in me well the enema is being delivered

Your 2 separate double balloon rectal catheters are preferable to the european Rüsch nozzles.

The 2 balloon Rüsch nozzle has a disadvantage, since both ballons are connected, in as far as: If your sphincter cramps the strain on the inner balloon will transfer the air to the outer balloon, wich now being larger will result that the complete tube will pop-out of your rectum. The result is most of the time a mess, in as far the water will continue to flow before you realise what happened. The safer way is to push booth ballons inside, but than why spend the additional money, if the 1 balloon Rüsch does the same job.

I disagree that the two inflator double balloon rectal catheter is better. Yes, the scenario where extreme expulsion forces can cause the inner balloon to compress and therefore pass through the anus is possible but with proper inflation highly unlikely. The balloons on the Rusch are made of a much thicker and stronger material than any of the double balloon rectal catheters. It takes a lot of force to inflate the balloons and by association it takes a lot to deflate the inner one. I've used mine with some pretty strong soap solutions and it has yet to let me down. If I had something in me that wanted out bad enough to force out the Rusch nozzle then I think for safety reasons that it would be a good thing.

In exchange for the aforementioned highly improbable inadvertent expulsion you get a proper anatomic design-by that I mean that the balloons are, get this, round. Imagine that, a round peg for a round hole. Ha Ha. I see that many complain that their double balloon rectal catheters actually make retention more difficult because they seem to stimulate the wrong way. I had the same problem with my double balloon rectal catheter. I used it about a dozen times before giving up on it. Whenever I inflated the inner balloon the urge to expel was unbearable. When I bought and used the Rusch nozzle I found what I had been looking for, namely a comfortable to use nozzle that stayed put and didn't leak. For added bonus, it's much much easier to insert and more durable.

Safe to say, I have strong feelings about the relative merits of the two designs but I know them both intimately.

Oh, and back to the original question. As someone else has posted, the yellow colored bulb in the inflation line is a pinch valve to prevent air escaping when the inflation bulb is removed and the line is capped off with the attached plug. I can't help with the other features but I must say that that rotary valve is a pretty nice piece. I would guess that the air inflation port on the bag is for a double contrast barium enema but that usually involves draining the barium and then pumping in the air.

Since this bag came up in a more recent thread, I thought I would bring it back up to the top of this discussion.

The yellow doohickey in the inflator line is referred to as a "pilot balloon"; its function is to provide a quick means to determine if the cuffs are up, and some indication of the cuff pressure. They're usually seen on endotracheal tubes where the cuff isn't observable.

The connector at the top of the bag appears to be a Luer connector; most medical syringes are fitted with this style/size connector. It provides a route of adding meds/other substances to the solution without removing the top and risking a spill. Given that the bag is elastic, it's very unlikely that it's meant for pressurization.

The second valve on the hose - who knows. The Germans usually demand all things to be done in triplicate, however. A design flaw?

Thats absolutely correct, the yellow pinch area is simply therre to prevent the baloons deflating when you swap the inflator for the stopper. the advantage of this device s that its ok to use in the bath where double inflators get their valves et and ruined. the disadvantage is that air can leak from one baloon to the other and the whole thing can be expelled!
