Checking the results

My mom gave me both glycerin and medicated suppositories. Here I'm talking only about glycerin.

After mom gave me a glycerin suppository, I had to wait until it was "really acting" so that I did not expel it before it was melted. So mom would have me wait for a while, despite my rectal feelings, and then would ask me to wait further and only go when I felt a "real urge".

And now for the humiliating part - I recall being told not to flush so that she could check the results.

My Mom always checked the results of either a suppository or an enema.

I'm sure it happened to all of us - it's a parental duty (pun alert)

I was never given a suppository, my mom was a big believer in enemas, and after every enema she would check the toilet after I expelled to see if the enema was effective. If she wasn't satisfied with the results I would be subjected to another syringing with Ivory soapsuds. If she determined that she had cleaned me out effectively then I would get another final enema of plain water to rinse out the soapsuds.

I think most Mothers were like that they all had to check what the results were after doing a procedure on us to make sure it worked or didn't work and if it didn't work well it was done again.

Kid: Being made to go potty on cue (when mom chose to give me the suppository and to let me go after giving it) and having to show results after (thanks God she at least did not stay to see expulsion) was one of childhood's repeat humiliations.

I've learned over the years that watching the expulsion, and more importantly watching the kid initially trying to "do", is a good idea, to determine constipation or wilful witholding

It is required by the Mom rulebook. This practice knows no cultural or ethnic bounds. Standard Mom procedure.

Mom always required me to wait until she checked before flushing. The same when I stayed with my Aunt Beth. Their mom always checked them, and did the same to me when I visited. This was actually standard procedure whether it was an "unaided" BM, or the result of a laxative, suppository, or enema(s). If I was having a spontaneous BM, Mom or Aunt Beth always wanted to know before I headed to the toilet. Frequently, they would accompany me and watch. I'm sure this was for the reasons squidgicunt mentioned. Both of them kept a journal of my bowel habits, and always recorded the "quality" of my offering, and if some artificial means was used to force me to poop, they recorded the type of laxative (& dosage), or suppository (and how many they inserted), the volume of enema delivered and what was in the water, noting if I had cramps and about how much I had in me when they started, how long I held it, and of course what it produced. I was started on a senna tea, and then switched to Fletcher's Castoria, and finally to Dulcolax pills. My first suppositories were glycerin, but by age14 or so they really weren't working anymore, despite receiving 6 to 10 of them. At that time , they switched me to bisacodyl suppositories, and by 20, I was enjoying 4 or 6 per treatment. Aunt Beth was always keen to keep inserting them at a rate of one every 5 minutes, until I was having strong cramps. By the time I was 18, I was actually enjoying them, and her very large, very soapy enemas. Beth and Mom both did enemas, and ?I know Beth usually took 6 qts. I knew this because she frequently told me, "You can take this whole bag! It's only 4qts, and I always take six!" Being checked was embarrassing at first, but became routine, and I developed a perverse yearning for Aunt Beth's company for my BM's

When i was a kid ,i have never used laxative suppositories ,we only used suppositories for medical purpose ,so doctors usually give suppositories to kids ,even adults ,for me ,my mum used to call me to the bathroom ,ask me tu pull dawn my panties ,and insert the suppository herself ,and then she forbid me to go to the bathroom for at least thirty minutes so i don't evacuate the suppository ,and when the time is over and i can go ,she comes and check if the suppository is in the poop or juste some of its liquid ..

This will sound silly, but for years my mom hasn't showed me how to flush the toilet, so I assumed that leaving the results there for everyone to see was just what most families did. At one point I slept over a friend's house and his mom got really upset at me for not flushing my product. That was when it dawn on me that I was unique in this sense haha
