When did standard bags tubes and nozzles start to bore you ?

They never bored me, but in the early 1980's when I saw ads in the back of magazines such as Water & Power for 3 quart bags and balloon nozzles, I began to explore a step up in enema gear!!!

In what context ? . .Because they are now dated ? . .tardy looking ? . .don't have the same appeal as they once may have ?

Antiquated items have their own charms & if they no longer function (serve the purpose) then it's easy enough to retain the usable pieces so again they move with the times

After being introduced to a full 4qt. Enema from a black Sherema bag by the late FEB on Mother's Day of '78, I was no longer as interested in the plain simple cheap 2 qt. bags of the time with their nasty little plastic nozzles that had sharp edges. I found the Sherema bags to be quality made. Bought my first one in '83 and still use it.

I never tired of the old fashioned enema/douche gear. In fact, the equipment is my true fetish. There are a number of newer items which also feed my equipment fetish. I do modify some of those newer items to appear similar to the older one's. A black nozzle or fittings is an example. Those old red hoses are also a great addition.

The OLD Klystra bags has a large bore barb to attach the hose to, the newer ones (last 10 years??) have had a narrow bore barb. My husband managed to pull the bag inside out and remove it so it could be replaced with a barb having a 3/8" ID for faster flow. He tried to pull it straight out, but it was not moving and it appeared that the supplied barb would damage the silicone bag. so it was turned inside out for better access and easier removal. The bag was then pulled right side out.

Nostalgia plays a big part in the enema experience for me. Looking up and seeing a vintage bag filled to the brim really gets me going. Almost all of my equipment is from the 50's or 60's with two exceptions. I have a PIC fountain syringe that I use for coffee enemas. Don't want coffee stains in my vintage bags. The other bag (my favorite) is a red 4 quart SHEREMA bag that I bought in the late 70's. See my avatar. Built like a tank, 40 years old & still looks like new! I realize that a disposable performs exactly the same function as one of my classic bags, but for me, it's just not the same. Must be some link to my early experiences with the red bag.

I built an arduino-based enema... controller (i guess that's what i should call it).Basically, on the control side there is a display, three knobs (volume, flow and max pressure) and a switch (start/pause). On the sensor side, there is a flowmeter and a pressure transducer (off a bp meter). There is also an air pump -which used to inflate the bp cuff. This is all connected to a barium-style enema bag, with inflation port. The bag holds 3 liters, and has a non-return valve for the water tube.

It works as follows - set up the volume (E.g 2500 ml) the flow (say 400ml/min) and max pressure - usually about 100cmH2O. Then stick the tube in and press start. The air pump inflates the bag, and the liquid goes in. The flowmeter reports the flow, and if needed pressure is increased, up till the max pressure I set, in order to reach the requested flow. Once the volume has been met, the air pressure is released. The actual pressure for a 400ml/min flow is in the order of 25-35 cmH2O.

it feels great, since it allows precise flow control (to avoid cramping). It's also hands-free since once set it's all automatic. I had a 3-liter plain water+table salt enema dispensed over about 10 mins (300ml/min). Prior to this, i never was able to adjust the flow so precisely. Took me about 1 week to build, and I would not use a gravity bag again. Another great use is for colon tube insertion - set the flow real low -50 to 100ml/min while putting the tube in. This way, there's always a bit of water lubricating/expanding things at the tip of the tube, witout adding much water down low, where it causes a need for expulsion. Once the tube is in at yhe desired depth turn the flow up... If the tube kinks or folds, i know right away, since the flow stops... Makes things real easy.

Anyone else with similar interests? I am sure I'm not the first one to have done this.

when he was growing up, his mother was EXTREMELY anti-enema, at least for boys, and she never had a daughter who made it past 18 months.

She DID have a combination bag that she bought in the 1950s right after she immigrated from Germany. She used it mostly to douche, at a time when many doctors were still encouraging it.

When Dad found the bag in the linen closet, and could finally get to it, he immediately realized what the rectal tube was for and started experimenting with it.

Once his Mom realized what was going on, she hid, and later destroyed the rectal applicator, Dad was too scared to try the douche nozzle, so using an Exacto knife and a candle, he was able to take apart a Bic "Stick" type pen and craft a fully functional rectal nozzle out of that Bic pen. He used it until he was in hes early 'teens, had an afternoon paper route and was generating his own money Spent some of that money and a summer morning riding his bike several miles along a busy highway to get to a large-format drug store, where he bought his first bag!!

I started by adding a small colon tube about 12 inches long when the douche nozzle just wasn't enough. Then I got a longer colon tube about 24 inches still about a 30fr in width. Then that wasn't enough and I got a 36 inch colon tube with a width just over 1/2 inch. Then my final nozzle was a Silicon Nozzle 75fr probably about 24 inches long. I recently purchased a 1 gallon silicon bag and relegated my red latex bag to the bottom of my enema equipment duffle bag.

Not sure of where I am heading next but this has been a fun adventure over the years.

Hmmm. Good question!

I think I became more adventurous in my enema equipment in the early 2000s. I discovered the various equipment sites on the internet (Beth Tyler and Klystra) and started wondering what an enema would feel like given with some of the more exotic tubes and nozzles. Being a little timid to expand my collection of toys above what was available at the drug store, I'd gaze for hours at the items available. Then I took the plunge and ordered my first double balloon nozzle from Beth Tyler. An amber latex model 250/250. That nozzle lasted for years and was my gateway to an ever expanding inventory of toys.

Now, an enema also means making decisions about what nozzle to use...which bag and what solution.

After all, variety is the spice of life!

Fist , let me say that no matter what bag/nozzle we use , there is one "constant"......: solution flows in and we all know what flows out ....That being said, there are so many nuances , both physical and psychological, to the question "When did standard bags tubes and nozzles start to bore you ?". In my early years of discovering the pleasures of enemas, just using the bag/nozzle in my house growing up was all I needed. Since I was "sneaking" these enemas, there was the "thrill" factor involved (therefore the psychological) as well as the pure physical aspect of the enema itself. When i lived on my own, the first bag I bought was a pretty standard combo bag and it sufficed to fill the need ....no pun intended....It wasn't until years later when I went into an old neighborhood independent drugstore that was going out of business that I saw and bought some old black bakelite enema and douche nozzles that were sitting in a bin. These nozzles reminded me of the ones from the fountain syringe set of my youth and brought back fond memories. I would say that this was the turning point. I first started just looking for old style red bags with red hoses and black nozzles. I realized using these types had mostly psychological effects on my enjoying enema play. But it was definitely the gateway of bigger and better things to come. The next different type I bought was a disposable hospital clear plastic bag with attached clear plastic hose/nozzle. I was curious how the mechanics of this type of bag would be compared to regular rubber bags/hoses. Would the flow, because of the narrower hose feel different? The nozzle on the end with the hole on the bottom and the side, would that make a difference? It was here that experimentation was the next faze of my enema play. And with the advent of the internet it exploded !!!!!!! I started ordering balloon nozzles and different size and color bags , bulbs, enamel cans, colon tubes, etc. Ebay was a great source with all of the "golden age" enema equipment for sale. I did go a little overboard for a while but I have a nice varied collection now which suits my desires depending on my mood.

When those things start to bore me, I take a different approach and focus on the enema itself rather than the devices used to take it.
