Damn right it hurts! I worked with a guy many years ago that drove charter bus. He was lead bus in a multi bus move to NYC. They had a big girl scout troup and familys to Madison Square Garden to the circus. Well back then not all the busses had rest rooms and it cost extra to have a bus with a rest room. So the guys got seperated leaving the city and Phil pulled over after going through the toll booth on the New Jersey Turnpike. He got off the bus and went to the back end and was having a smoke waiting for the other guys and decided to take a leak. A New Jersey state trooper walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder to see if everything was ok. Phil thought it was one of the mothers that was on the bus and zipped up a little too quick before he reeled it back in. He actually had to have stitches put in after he got home. The funny part was the next day when he woke up he had a "piss hard on" or as some call it "Morning wood" and tore the stitches and had to go back to get them fixed again! LMAO. Of course when a bunch of guys find out something of this nature about one of our co-workers, well you just can't let it die. You are going to get razed about something like this for quite a long LONG time!

This just happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I was wearing blue jeans over my Tommy John underwear. The Tommy John brand has what they call a "quick draw" fly. I had just finished urinating and thought I had pushed my penis back down into the fly. I misjudged somehow and as I zipped my jeans up, i pinched a bit of skin from my frenulum in the zipper. It quickly brought a tear to my eye. I pulled my zipper down and examined the damage. Luckily there was no bleeding but it did nick the underside of my penis a bit. The wound healed quickly but I was not in the mood for sex the rest of the day.

I would think that most males have done this painful trapping of the penis in a zipper at some time or another. It's happened to me more than once but fortunately not for some time now. At least I've always been able to extricate myself without the need for assistance from anyone else.

I suspect this is more common among guys who "go commando." Getting pubic hair caught in the zipper is an eye opener too.

Thankfully, this has never happened the me. I did accidentally rip out a hair on my scrotum when using the urinal one time. That was enough to make my eyes water and there was actually a little blood... Ouch.

Where in the world did that phrase 'to go commando' come from? I never heard it used when I was still living in the US, so I guess it must be a fairly recent addition. And when pondering, I have the impression that I have only begun to hear it fairly recently, like say in the last 10 years maybe?

Anyway, please don't say it has anything to do with the military, cause US Special Forces are usually dressed to the nines, packed full of gear and zipped up tight. Spartans and Classical Greeks, now those guys were known to go into battle dressed in not much more than a helmet and shield and maybe shin grooves, without even a loincloth (though maybe some sort of jockstrap to keep their organs from flapping about). Often that was a result of poverty, not being able to afford armor or even padded military gear. And no use getting your only tunic cut up since it doesn't afford protection anyway.

So, after that digression: where does the expression come from? I have to suppress a laugh whenever I see it ... it really sounds silly ... no offense ... 😃

When my husband is putting his penis away he knows he can zip up because he can feel when it is out of the way and he looks down to be sure anyway. I do not get why you guys have ever made the mistake of getting it caught in the zip because you must know you have not put it back in your pants properly.

If I ever put his penis back in I can see it is not sticking out any more and it is safe to zip him up.

I also do not get why you call your penis Charlie @highwater. Is it like calling it Dick? I have not seen it called Charlie before.

I've been going commando for the last 10 years - I currently only own 1 pair of underpants for "special events" such as my annual (anal? - sorry, couldn't help that one either!) checkup. If I should ever be hospitalized (heaven forbid!) I suppose there will be some shopping required beforehand.

In any event, I have had my junk caught in a zipper more than once, and it's excruciatingly painful. Of course, very embarrassing too when it happens at a public urinal. And, Sue, thank you so much for your kind words above - I feel so much better about myself now! 😁 😁

OK, that sounds reasonable ... I grew up right after the biggest most humid and hottest theater of Operations, the South Pacific and then Vietnam ... but then you get the campaigns in the desert, dry and before the summer heat ...

It used to be jungle or crotch rot that got you back then ... and I believe one of ways to combat that was by shaving it all off, as you'd sometimes hear in a WWII movie ... shocking back then ... 😃

It has happened to me a couple of times some time ago, but it was not as roughly bad as musicman5360 have said about his friend story. Really such a thing hurts awfully but most of times things stays there and no injuries happens unless the casual dick/zipper "contact" have been astronomically violent. The most prone part to be pinched by a zipper is, of course for uncut men, the foreskin end.

Obviously the best solution and the radical one is to use button fly jeans as have been said. And as a bonus, a pair of well fitting tight jeans gives one an extra sexy look 😉

No, the best solution is to be careful and actually watch what you are doing. You can feel when your equipment is safely stowed away inside your underwear, or even just inside your trousers if you have gone without underwear. Even a man with a large paunch and can't easily check himself visually should be able to feel that he has successfully put his penis away.

Getting caught is the result of clumsy impatience. Simple as that.

Button fly jeans are unnecessarily fussy and impractical garments. They have several disadvantages as already pointed out. I only ever wear jeans with a zip fly.

I've had countless pairs of jeans with brass zips, and I've never had one fail on me yet. Heavy brass zips on jeans or outerwear should never break during the lifetime of the garment. If they don't glide easily when new they respond well to a touch of oil or wax. When lubricated they are pretty much unbreakable in normal use.

I agree with DrZ. You need better pants if your zippers keep breaking. My husband and I have never has zipper break on clothing. Talon and YKK zippers rule

Breakage on luggage is another story--even the Tumi brand, but at least my dealer will have those fixed for free.

Zippers on my clothes seem to break far more statistically often than need be. I've had to wiggle and struggle to get out a winter coat where the zipper got stuck and on pants the zips break far far too often as well.

Maybe the clothes I buy are too cheap, maybe because I read once than about 80% or more of all zippers in the world come from one manufacturing city/area in - wanna guess? - the PRC of course. A situation not unlike that which plagued the Soviet Union with concentration of production in just one or at most a few locations. When something goes wrong or production is shoddy, then there are no alternatives ...

I have numerous pairs of skin tight pants in various materials including deerskin leather (my favorite) which do not stretch, they just have to fit and they do undergo stress if you make large leg movements and I have not had any zippers break. Even if this Chinese company makes many of the zippers, they must have different qualities of their products.

In checking, I found that YKK (Japan) makes half the world's zippers and they are of superior quality. I believe the Guardian report to be wrong.
