Why do some people crave punishments?

Hello. I'm new to this site. I suppose I'm confused by my feelings. I'm a submissive, and through that learned about discipline and punishments and crave it now.

Being unowned and not in a relationship, I have no one to discipline me, and self-discipline just doesn't do much. But in my being alone and wanting something I cannot get I have become very confused. I end up feeling wrong sometimes for wanting to be punished.

Does anyone else ever feel this way? Does anyone know why they want or enjoy punishments? Opinions for givers and receivers are appreciated 😃

I think I have been craving that feeling of being put into my place, feeling less than, lectured, those types of things.

It doesn't really have to be painful or corporal, but just being told I have been bad and being reminded I am a submissive puts me in a headspace I enjoy. For me I am able to separate punishment and erotic in my mind. Pain turns me on, but if i am being punished it doesn't turn me on even if normally it would turn me on if it was erotic. For me it’s not so much the punishments I crave it’s the discipline and with that comes the punishments....depending on what your being disciplined for will determine the punishment and perhaps the severity of the punishment

I feel the same way sometimes. Now I have someone who will punish me and I guess kind of just give me the dicipline that I need, but I still feel wrong for wanting it sometimes.
