When I was a child (a true one), my mom was adamant that I should wash my teeth, feet, bottom and genitalia every night. I was to first wash my penis with soap with full retraction of the foreskin, then between my buttocks, and then I could rinse and dry. This was the case, I think, even if I showered in the morning. I think she did the same for herself; when we moved to a house with a 'bidet' she remarked how easy it made this and urged me to use it.

At some point I decided to rebel and I simply stopped washing the genitals, buttocks and feet. I pretended to do so. I don't remember how, probably I seemed to stay too short in the bathroom, but at some point my mom suspected I was doing this; I then decided to be more prudent and to stay longer and draw water. Still my mom caught me. I have a vague remembrance that she asked me to pull down my pajamas wiped me with toilet paper, thus got a proof that I hadn't washed despite my claim, spanked me on the spot... and washed me herself that evening. Most humiliating, I must have been 9 or even 10 at the time.

This probably explains why now I enjoy playing hygiene games with my wife: inspecting the briefs ("oh dirty boy") or panties ("oh dirty girl"), washing the bottom and genitals, etc.

Was your mother also a stickler on bottom and genital washing?

I was raised by two aunties back in the 1960's. We lived in the country and I got a bath every night. I hated it during the summer because she would wash me on the back porch in a metal tub. She would pour water over me and then take a bar of soap and begin slowly soaping me from my shoulders on down. She either used her hands or sometimes a wash cloth. She would latter up my bottom good and run her hand up and down in my bottom crack to make sure it was good and clean. She would take time to wash my penis and between my legs too. At first I didn't mind too much but by the time I was 9 or 10 I started to hate it, especially if their friends were there and got to watch. They thought little boys didn't need any privacy and so they often say me in the bath or on the potty. When I was little, like 5 and 6, she would lay me on the table after my bath and oil and powder my bottom. I liked it but I did not want to because I was a big boy and not a baby.

I went to a boarding school and we were subject to inspections every night although not as intimately as you, just hands face etc. Still we did not have much privacy.

Yes my mum would make sure me and my sisters wiped or washed after the toilet, we used a bidet too and had to show mum when we were clean. I remember her checking us until we were in our teens and it felt it quite natural. I do the same with my daughters

I was bathed by my mother up to my 10. I was already 10 when one day my mom asked me if I was ready to wash myself for the first time. Since then I started to wash myself, but once on week or so, she wanted to allow her to wash me because she don't trusted that I was able to wash myself properly. Since I was 12 I was allowed to wash myself every time but sometimes she was was present to wash my back (the area between the shoulder blades).

When we were in the country side during the summer at my grandparents house, my childhood baths were usually done outside the house, in open space, right in the middle of the backyard, in a small bathtub. Me, my brother and my cousins were washed by my grandmother or my aunt, but also by my older step sister or even worst - my older cousins (also girls). It was very embarrassing to be washed in front of everyone was around and in full view of our neighbors but also from passersby on the street.

Since we - the small boys - were washed together but soaped and rinsed one after another we also helped each other bringing fresh water buckets from the manual water pump who was outside of our yard, but fortunately close to our gate.

I never had a mom but my dad was adamant about cleanliness, brushing teeth, washing hands, and washing (not merely wiping) my bottom after doing a #1 or #2. Plus taking showers twice a day when possible.

I remember, at first, complaining that neither he, nor my step-brother, washed after peeing so why must I but he explained the reasons even though it was obvious. It also added to my resentment about not having a penis.

I was washed by my mom up until eight, as I remember. Sometimes a guest or relative would enter the bathroom, acting like it wasn't a big deal. Not often though. I started getting shy around six, right before I went to school, which started at seven at that time in my home country. It wasn't a full-on shame. More of a subtle feeling, that something wasn't right and I was too old to be bathed like a toddler. Still reluctantly allowed my mom to do it.

There were kinkier customs in the good old USSR and post-Soviet Russia, largely free of today's child abuse hysteria, at least during my childhood. Sure, if the parents want to avoid "traumatizing" the kid, they should teach him to wipe his butt and shower on his own at the age of 5, 6-12 months before (not sure about girls) boys start to feel embarrassed about nudity. Which also depends on the country, e.g. wouldn't be the case in Germany or Scandinavia. It was in Russia, and as I learned today, in France and Romania too.

There is worse abuse, than embarrassing a 9y.o. by bathing him in front of the guests. Many here fantasize about incest, which is not a gray area at all. I'm not judging or advocating anything in real life. Let's just relive our (painfully) sweet memories. The subtlety of the bath beyond preschool age makes it a lot kinkier, than straightforward corporal, and even diaper punishment. What would the kid complain about? Being thoroughly cared for like a baby. Sure, today he can pick up his very own mobile phone and call the special hotline. But not long time ago hygienic care like that was well within customary no matter how belittling and offensive it felt. You were clearly violated, but couldn't complain at all, e.g. listening to your mom thanking the mean babysitter for thoroughly bathing you at the age of eight.

Did moms, big sisters, and teenage babysitters enjoy sweetly humiliating a visibly embarrassed 6-10y.o. boy? Did they generously shared the joy of adoring little one's naked body with their female relatives, friends, and sometimes random guests? They couldn't rob the others of the "Aww" moments of admiring that sweet toddler-like body: hairless, with a slightly round tummy and slightly arched back, attenuating a cute round bum, could they? Who wouldn't like watching the funny and innocent kiddie action like bathing and potty sitting? Especially the teenage girls, getting a chance to watch and even play with the live (male) doll, to satisfy their curiosity about boy's private parts... eagerly learning the baby care as a future mother, and enjoying the feeling of superiority over a younger boy - the rare age window, when women can truly non-consensually dominate men in our still very manly world.

Back to Soviet children's hygiene. As you might expect, the old communist regime had very rigid age brackets - largely remained after the official collapse of the Soviet Union. Kids used to start a 10-year school at 7, then it became an 11-year school started at 6, and as far, as I know (being out of the country for so long), it's 6.5 or 7 again for the same 11-year school. The difference between the 10 and 11-year schools is the elementary one: 3 years (7-10) or 4 years (6-10). Either way, the middle school starts at 10. 6 used to be the last year of "pre-school", and then became the first ("kindergarten" by Western standards) year of the normal school.

Before 6 all kids are publicly pottied and bathed without any regard for privacy. 6 is the transitional period, when the kid is expected to learn how to wipe his butt after #2, as no one would help him with that at school. Though I wish high school girls were assigned that duty: to check and wipe first- and second-graders with baby wipes. Sorry, got carried away.

As far, as public pottying, many 6y.olds still use chamber pot or more modern plastic potties, especially in the country, where many still have outhouses only even today. In any case 7 is the official big boy (girl) age. No more potty business in front of everyone and calling the mom or older sister to wipe your bum.

As for baths, everyone was very embarrassed after 7, since he/she officially became a big boy/girl. Still, it typically took a year in normal (i.e. not the kindergarten with its after-lunch nap) school to muster the courage to ask for normal adult showering. Many, including myself, protested the baths, and were allowed to shower, like adults at the age of 8 - first under the parent's supervision, and then completely on their own. Others were too infantile/timid, or the parents (typically moms, since parenting is the woman's duty over there) simply refused, so baths continued until the middle-school age: 10.

To recap, it's 0-3 (diapers: baby care), 4-6 (potty-trained: preschool), 7-9 (still bathed: elementary school), 10-15 ("teenage" middle school) and 16-17 (young adult high school). There was a huge step up from a 9y.o. kid to a 10y.o. "almost teen" trusted not only with showering by him/herself, but also babysitting (meaning bathing) kids under 10 years of age. Shouldn't that line have been drawn at 13 - the true teen age? Physiologically, but not behaviorally. It's hard to treat a 12y.o. as a pre-schooler. Sorry for ruining your incest fantasies, most moms are not into that action. The Aww-inducing innocence starts to fade at 10. In any case, now, that you know the official brackets, let's get to the action.

There was a system of summer camps, designed to help city parents during the three summer break months. Many lived with grandparents, and babysitting wasn't such a big problem for the out of school kids. It was mostly the fresh air outside the city, outdoor fun, sports, socializing, and other usual parents' BS. You can tell how I felt about such "socializing" and "sports". The food sucked too. Though I was lucky to only attend those camps twice: at the age of 11 and 12.

The system was somewhat similar to American boy/girl-scouts uniform-wise, but it was coed and divided by age. The camps accepted elementary and middle school kids: 6-15, placed into "squads" of 20-30 kids of the same age. Every squad had two adult supervisors: almost always college girls, as that was a minimum-wage summer job, considered "unmanly" and reserved for women like many other professions, e.g. nurses and pediatrician.

You know where I am going with that. Who washed elementary school aged boys, since they were officially deemed unable to clean themselves properly? I was wondering that too during our weekly bath days, though only heard rumors. And no, contrary to the Internet stories, the adults supervisors (of the opposite sex) didn't watch us in the shower room at the age of 11 and 12.

It gets better. A single 19-21 y.o. squad supervisor couldn't possibly wash 10-15 of her boys within 30 minutes typically allowed for her squad, before the next one came into the shower room. The other supervisor was in the girls' shower room. Those rooms typically had 4-6 shower stalls without doors. Some squad supervisors formed teams and washed all of the younger squads together. I can only imagine how humiliating it was - being washed by a pretty 19y.old, I didn't even know a week before, and had a secret crush on. Should have scarred me for life if it really happened, though I can't stop fantasizing about "what ifs" now, like most of you.

There was another, more common arrangement. At first I didn't believe the rumors, but thanks to the Internet, some pretty consistent and convincing stories came out. I remember at least three Russian forums with those childhood memories. The squad supervisor girls were less than enthusiastic about washing half of the squad (boys of girls) every week, so they asked the two (or three) oldest squads: 14-15y.olds to help them. The stories claim they asked both boys and girls, though, in a typical double standard fashion no one asked older boys to wash little girls, though it was OK for 14-15y.o. girls to wash boys. Older boys didn't agree anyway (I wouldn't - it's not manly, and the homophobia was strong at the time, if I were gay). One way or another it's always been girls, and they loved the "bath duty".

Everyone under the age of 10 was to be thoroughly washed by an "adult". Many, like me, already showered at home on their own since 7-8, but there were no exceptions, so no one would feel offended. Both the squad supervisors and their 14y.o. helpers enjoyed forcing the shyest and most stubborn boys to strip naked and allow touching them everywhere. It was like a conveyor. One girl lathered up the kid, another rinsed him, and the next one was waiting with a towel. The camp nurse typically visited the shower room in the beginning to show the girls how to properly wash a boy, paying particular attention to the privates.

The boys were sternly told to obey every 14y.old's word, do, what they are told, and never cover themselves. You can imagine the condescending supervisor lectures about "what's the big deal?", "adults in charge", "plenty of experience with little brothers and nephews", "future moms needing to practice caring about little ones", "too young to be shy", and last but not least, pointing out yellow stains and skid marks on the underwear proving better than anything, that kids, especially boys, cannot even wipe their butts properly at that age, let alone shower, like adults.

The few girls who posted in those forums, admitted, they enjoyed bossing embarrassed naked boys around and loved admiring their cute bodies, rather funny and pathetic, than sexual. "Shouldn't hide that tiny thing", "just cute and funny", "little boys are so adorable when they blush", and similar remarks. They typically used a rug to wash the boy, except for the butt and privates, where they were specifically instructed by the nurse to be gentle doing it with a bare hand.

One said, she would have used her fingers anyway, as it was fun. Most boys subconsciously tried to move away, once the girl got a hold of their privates, so the girl often slapped the naked butt with a stern command to stand still, and proceeded to lather up the boy's ball sack watching him squirm from tickle. Some liked to tease the boy about it. I can point you to those forums if you speak/read Russian (shoot me a PM), but everything will be lost in translation if you use Google.

There are no recollections of washing under the foreskin, though I am sure those attempts took place simply out of curiosity. There are a few orgasm stories I take with a grain of salt. Erections probably weren't uncommon among the stressed out kids. I don't believe they happened from seeing those 14-15y.olds in swimsuits. There was water and soap everywhere and the girls had to take a shower in turn after washing the last squad. Did they laugh at pathetic boners and commented on every boy's development? Probably. Did some put a finger up the boy's little hole when the squad supervisor wasn't looking or looked the other way? The forum threads typically turned to bickering between the guys recalling those humiliating memories and some poor girl who came there defend herself saying it wasn't a big deal and everything was funny and not arousing at all. Anyway, that's all I've read there.

The old Soviet Union never had third-world slums and outside showers - not in big cities. But it used to have poorer second-world housing standards e.g. dorm-style "communal flats": several (sometimes 10 or more) private rooms with a shared bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom was always occupied and typically reserved for adults, with all kids under the age of seven and often older, elementary school ones bathed in large basins or infant bathtubs on one of the kitchen tables, while other flat residents (moms and their daughters as it was (and is) the "women belong to the kitchen" world) cooked something or did laundry, chatting with the mom or older sister washing her little one.

Then there was still incomprehensible for me central heating infrastructure with the heat (hot water) distributed underground to tens of city blocks. The pipe system was extremely fragile and required annual maintenance, performed in the summer for a month or so: the pipes dug up and replaced, etc. Obviously the hot water was turned off for those tens of blocks connected to one power plant.

Since no one turned off the hot water in the entire city at once, people typically went to their friends or relatives in another part of the city. Imagine an 8y.o. boy allowed to shower on his on and unaware of the ancient "communal flats" - discovering his mom is took him to one of those, and the bathroom was either occupied or broken/clogged, so he'd be washed in the kitchen in front of complete strangers; who'd surely comment on his development, ask his mom if his foreskin fully retracts, and give her other pointers how to properly wash little boys down there.

Your experience reminded me of something similar @itsjustme . At my assessment following my referral for delayed puberty, the doctor observed that I had a phimosis. As a result she prescribed a steroid cream to be applied topically 3 times a week and stressed to my mother the importance of checking cleanliness, correct application of the cream and of "stretching exercises" to speed the treatment. I think most teenagers were doing the stretching exercises intuitively anyway, but it did mean that I had to be checked either during bathtimes or afterwards before being allowed to dress.

I can only remember a few showers, mother believed in baths for little boys well into my teens. I would be called to her bathroom and stripped naked, she would then sit on the edge of her big old white claw foot tub and adjust the water temp as it filled. She would then put me in the tub, she would leave for a bit to let me soak. When she returned to wash me I would have to stand and put my arms out so she could wash me. Then turn around and repeat the process. She washed me all over but never really anything improper. Then I would sit back down and wash the soap off, then out of the tub and she would towel me dry.

When I was growing up in the UK during the 1950s I think we were a fairly typical town-dwelling family. We had a proper indoor bathroom and lavatory with hot water supplied by an electric immersion heater or in winter from a boiler above the coal fire. It took about 45 minutes to heat the water with the immersion heater and it produced enough for 1 bath. We didn't have a shower. All that and the cost of heating the water meant that my sister and I only got one bath a week each - on a Sunday evening before bed. Every day other than Sunday we had a fairly cursory wash unless we were particularly dirty (especially our legs as all boys wore shorts most of the time) when we would be given a good wash at the bathroom sink or maybe in the kitchen. My mother always washed me in the bath until I was about 9 or 10 but I was getting shy about it at that age. I can remember that she tried to pull my foreskin back when I was about 9 but it wouldn't retract very far and I just squealed a bit. My sister (who was about 4 years younger) saw each other naked all the time until I was 10 or 11 and we no longer shared a bedroom.

When I was, around three or so, my mother would leave me alone in the bath (but not be far away in the house) and she told me to sing when I was in the bath because as long as I was singing, I was not drowning in the bath. If I stopped singing she would tell me to start singing again. She did the same for my brother before me and we did the same for our daughters. We would do our initial washing and after my mother (or I as a parent) thought we had enough time to play and wash, she would check us out and finish bathing us. We were never put on display for company and if my parents (or my husband and I) were going out and there was a baby sitter, we were already bathed when by our parents when we were young. By the time we were five we were totally on our own getting washed.

Once my brother was about 11 he was my baby sitter since he is four years older than I am. Likewise, when my daughter "The Adventurer" was 10 or 11 she watched over her younger sister "The Mouth." We always had the telephone number of a neighbor or two who knew my parents (or my husband and I) were out for the night if there was a problem, and there never was one. In fact, once my brother was 16 and I was 12, my parents went on cross country trips for a week with my brother in charge. My mother, and I as a parent left cooked food in the freezer (everything was heat for 30 minutes at 350 degrees) and we did just fine.

Parents today are bringing up wimpy kids who have no ability to take care of themselves. The situation with children these days is just disgusting. My brother and I (and our daughters) had the keys to the kingdom and there was NO "Risky Business" as in the movie. When my parents were out of town we set off for school in the morning and let ourselves into the house after school and did our homework. We did the same thing going on trips leaving our daughters at home once the the older one was 16. My brother and I, and our daughters took good care of the house because aside from the fact that our Fifth Commandment for Children is "don't make a mess in the house--it doesn't belong to you", we took our parents trust in us seriously and our daughters did the same.

I always had a bath at home until I was in high school. Mom bathed me until I was ten. She would have me strip off in my bedroom and walk to the bathroom naked she would help me into the tub and then give me a few minutes of play time. No splashing water on the floor or is get a couple of whacks on my bare bum. Mom washed me from my head down starting with shampoo on my hair. Then washing my face and torso. I would stand up and she would wash genitals and then my bum. When I was thoroughly clean, it was out of the tub. Dried with a towel and taken back to my room where she insisted on helping me into pyjamas.

I was growing up in Russia in 80s and the story about bathing in a summer camp is what was really happening to me. Every Saturday was the “bathing day” and all elementary school aged squads had to take a shower in the morning after the breakfast and before the lunch time. The “big girls” from the oldest squads were bathing us and there was no option to wash yourself as long as you are in a one of the “youngest” groups. From the time I was visiting summer camp as a pre-schooler and till the time I finished the 3d grade it was always the same. We were told to undress to the nude and line up in a locker room to wait for our turn, then the girls called us to the shower room one by one to wash. They were in bathing suits and as you noted right they washed us with a washcloth except for the private parts which the most of them soaped up with their bare palms and fingers. And as you mentioned there was no such a thing like modesty for little boys. They didn't allow to cover up our things telling that we have nothing to hide and that they saw it hundreds of times and that they should wash it anyway no matter if we want it or not.

Hard to believe now but at that time it was simply par for the course.

I have a complete different experience compared to what is discussed here though …..

As a kid I grew up with my cousins, we had a joint / communal kind of family where my mum and dad lived with other uncles and aunts in the same big compound.

We were 5 brothers and 3 sisters, I was around 7 or 8 yo years at that point of time and, the eldest cousin was 10 or 11yo may be and the youngest sister was 1 or 1.5 yo. Everyday any of my aunt or my mum would bathe all the children and at the same time, needless to say that we all were stripped naked together, but the beauty is none of us felt any thing wrong, nor we were shy or embarrassed to be exposed and bare with each other, as we all were used to see each other naked everyday since childhood and we really enjoyed our bath together, yes we did giggle and laughed at our genitalias looking and comparing the size and the colour of the glans among the brothers and always wondered why our sisters don't have penis. Our elder sister was also clueless as she was 9 or so. (We were too innocent to understand the anatomical difference and the reason) and also figured out our little erections together and we know who had what birth mark at private areas. The eldest brother was always questioned by us about our curiosities and how he has the biggest one.

The lady who is bathing all of us ( my mom or any aunt), made us stand beside a running water stream naked and lathered us one by one and she might give a soft tug to our developing penis/ retract foreskin to clean it and joined us in our nudity teasing jokes and used to leave us to play and splash in the water stream naked for a while and wash ourselves, we all took care of the younger ones while playing or washing. Later she toweled us dry and we were clothed.

We were asked to bath in privacy when we reached puberty and started growing pubic hairs and sisters started periods and developing breasts. Modesty triggered among us later as we were never shamed or embarrassed of our nudity among brothers and sisters.

The ladies of the house, the might have lovingly cracked jokes and giggled at our sexual developments but that was never to humiliate us, we were washed and cleaned in the genitalias in such a way that it looked very normal and usual. Being naked in front of them were no big thing till 10 or so.

But, we were shy if any stranger or a new doctor or a nurse saw us naked. Apart from our regular pediatrician.

Now we brothers and sisters are all in our mid 20's to mid 30's we still laugh at our childhood bathing experience and the kiddish things we did and talked about.

My mother was very concerned about her children's hygiene. Both my younger sisters and I were bedwetters and had to be diapered every night, which became something of a ritual in our lives. I wet my bed until I was 17, and my sisters stopped when they were 12 and 8. Our mother was quite thorough in making sure all our body parts covered by our diapers and rubber pants where cleaned each evening before she pinned our diapers on with a warm damp wash cloth, including both our potty parts and our bottoms. My neighborhood playmates were all girls, If they came over while I was in the bath my mother thought nothing of my modesty. They would wait for me in the livingroom and I had to walk past them naked to get to where my clothes were. This continued until Saturday night became my bath ritual so they would be home at that time. Perhaps this was the reason why I never felt I needed to hide myself from them later in life when we played naked in the lawn sprinkler or when they watched me pee outside the house. It didn't bother them for me to watch them pee either or play with me naked. We knew what each other looked like and it just seemed natural. It did seem strange that they or any other females were always hidden from me if they were naked inside the house though.

My mother called my bath for quite a long time. Until I was about 12 years old, she checked whether I had washed myself properly. Between the ages of 12 and 15, she no longer checked whether I had washed myself properly, but she never came in while I was in the bath. She assessed how my body was developing.

I wasn't ashamed of her seeing me naked. I was ashamed that she treated me like a little child. I would be very ashamed if someone found out about it then.

My schoolmates had it worse. Many had younger sisters (age difference 2-3 years). They and their sister were bathed very often until the sister started puberty.

However, one friend told me that when he was at a summer camp, he took a shower with a group of boys. They were naked, and the washing was supervised by a woman teacher. The boys were approximately 9 to 11 years old. A woman was leading a group of boys to the shower. She supervised the washing and made sure they washed their armpits, genitals and bottoms well. The boys were very embarrassed at first, but then they got used to it. However, my friend says that this woman had a lot of authority.

When I was a kid my mum clearly used to overdo it with genital hygiene. As long as I can remember she washed my penis with a washcloth twice a day (in the morning after getting up and at night before going to bed). She used to pull my still tight foreskin back as far as possible and rubbed the soaped washcloth over my sensitive glans (which caused kind of pain). Then she would wash the soap out of the washcloth and use it again to wash the soap off my glans. Then she used a towel to try my glans and would pull my foreskin forward to cover my glans again. All this used to be very uncomfortable, my penis, especially my glans used to be very very sensitive back then, and pulling my foreskin back so far frequently left me with a burning feeling. As I said, this procedure was performed twice a day!

From the age of 6 years I was supposed to do all this myself. In the beginning she would watch me doing it. Later, when I was no longer observed, I didn't take this hygiene torture too serious anymore (why should I hurt myself with noone watching?). Too bad that from time to time my mum asked me to show if I had washed carefully. Sometimes when she caught me with a smelly or "dirty" glans she would catch the good old wash cloth herself to "help" me. These situations occured about a couple of times per year until I was about 12.

In the age if 13 I became seriously ill. Before I was brought to hospital, my mum cared for me at home for some days. She used to wash me in bed from head to toe with a wash cloth again, including pulling my foreskin back and carefully cleaning underneath. By this chance she discovered some bumps on the rim of my glans which she showed to our female family doctor who visited my at home the next day.

Also in hospital two women (a young doctor and an older nurse) complained about my insufficient genital hygiene.

Nowadays I certainly take good care for all my body parts. However, my experiences from back then had the effect that it is one of my fantasies today to provoke women (with whom I have a mutually agreed sexual relationship) with my penis not being washed properly.
