Do you have any examples of when someone has noticed, and what you have told them?
@nappy_j Absolutely, I'd love to share an example!
One time, I was at a family barbecue, and my cousin noticed the waistband of my diaper peeking out. He asked, somewhat hesitantly, 'Are you wearing a diaper?'
With a smile, I said, 'Yes, I am! I have an overactive bladder, and diapers give me the freedom to enjoy these gatherings without constantly worrying about finding a bathroom.'
His initial surprise turned into curiosity, and we had a great conversation about it. I explained how wearing diapers isn't something to be embarrassed about; it's just another way to manage a condition, much like wearing glasses or using a cane. I even joked, 'Hey, at least I never have to wait in line for the bathroom!'
By the end of our chat, he was much more understanding and supportive. It felt great to turn what could have been an awkward moment into an opportunity to educate and normalize adult diaper use.
Every time this happens, it reinforces my belief that openness and a positive attitude can really help break down the stigma. It’s all about how we choose to react and educate others. Confidence is key, and sharing our experiences can inspire others to feel comfortable and proud of managing their condition.
