I have my first metal plug on order so I have no real experience on wearing one yet, however I can, and love, having plugs in side me to feel full. It's all about size for me. I have anal beads, Rude Boy prostate vibrator, and various dildos as well as relatively small butt plug. I have had dildos that were just a little too large and really were not comfortable or pleasurable. So finding the right size is the number one thing for me. Psychosexual development suggests that everyone is on a continuum between heterosexual and homosexual orientation. It's just far more complicated than what you seem to suggest. To answer the original question, though, for myself the intensity of pegging would be too intense for me to ever consider doing it. It becomes painful really rapidly.

As another post (somewhere) here said, shouldn't the one on the receiving end be the one to choose the dildo? Shouldn't that always be the case, especially for someone trying it for the first time? If that's the case, that removes the fear that your partner might use something that is more than you can handle.

Yes, JJ, good point. I think you're exactly right. I didn't mean to imply my next partner would intentionally peg me with something unpleasant or irritating. I much prefer fully inserting my 12" double header to a butt plug. The various plugs I've used all seem to want to pinch the skin on my butt cheeks. The 12 incher inside me feels great.
