Weird fetish?

How do you feel about you liking medical things?

In the beginning, and also for the next many years, I thought it was something wrong with me because I liked this.

But after learning more about these things, talking to other people and more, then I am not afraid that there is something wrong with me.

So I don't think about that anymore. I know myself and I'm just a normal guy who has control over his life, but just have some "weird" fetish.

But I don't care.

I am a Dom, and I have met many women and played with them, not only medical.

When I first talked about playing medical with one of my subs, she thought it was very weird.

She have had her temp taken that way, but only by her mother for a long time ago.

I just have been wondering why so many people thing this fetish is more weird then other things.

Like a lot of "BDSM" style fetishes, med fet is about exercising and accepting control and authority. its just that we do it with a different set of implements and in a different setting. Medfet gives some sort of "legitemised" access to your patient who accepts that access with more or less enthusiasm.

We also have a 'standard' that perhaps is missing from other forms of fetish: there is a correct way of examining a patient and a correct way of using the tools of the trade, and to a lot of us that authenticity is important.

So i don't feel weird about it - i find a shoe fetish weird (sorry to any shoe fetishists out there) and a myriad of other things that other people find exciting. Horses for courses.

Your post was very interesting to me as I have often wandered whether I was a normal person. i understand I might look strange to many people for three main reasons.

- I have been a hypocondriac for all my life and, as many people with this condition spend their time in doctors' waiting room asking for new exams and treatment, my reaction is the exact oposite. I am very afraid of everything connected with medicine and I am sick when I have to go though any kind of medical exam. Xrays, ECG and blood tests make me panic because I am allways afraid they might reveal something wrong and possibly lethal.

- On the other end, also for all my life, I have been a fan of rectal temperature (taking it and having it taken) and I have tried to associate my sexlife with it. Fortunately, my present girlfriend share this weird interest.

- Last but not least, I have allways been very shy with female persons, So the girls I have had a relation with me did pick me up rather than the contrary.

Have a fetish for wearing hernia trusses, not many people know what they are but they can look it up and maybe we can talk.

I am as normal as anyone else, but keep in mind, being normal does not mean the same thing all the time or to anyone else. Example: receiving enemas is probably not normal for the entire population of the United States, but enjoying the experience might be normal for the group of people who do receive enemas.

Although I've never participated in medical play, I do have some kinks which I keep to myself. Not because I think they are weird or bad, but because family, friends, & acquaintances might or do. Making others uncomfortable is not one of my ambitions, so I keep my kinks to myself unless the topic arises naturally during an interaction (a conversation, a get-together for some other kinky activity that might lend itself to another one, etc.).

These days, l don't feel weird at all about having a medfet - which l basically satisfy by reading and writing about it here, or in correspondence with other Zity-ers. I use the phrase ‘my God-given nature’ to either (1) pass the buck (n.b., l'm not religious) or (2) to simply accept that l am what l am (let's call it a realist). The alleged deity up there has given us all kinds of impulses, besides much else. That's how it is, folks.

Besides, my medfet offers fun, i.e., sexy thoughts! There's little actual sex in my life, but my medfet is entertaining! The world takes all types!

I enjoy my fetish to the extent I can. I am celibate (involuntarily at first, but over time, I have embraced it as my choice for reasons I can get into later or elsewhere), so there is no sex happening, and the older I get, the harder it is to bring myself to orgasm. But I still enjoy pics of girls in medically required masks (and those abound now. Ballerinas, college students, soccer girls, and on and on). And in real life, grocery trips have taken on a new excitement. A lot of the girls working there or shopping there are the 18-22ish group that I like.

The fact of the matter seems to be that fetishes are often connected to something that happened in our childhoods, and that something can be good or bad. In this case, it's a bad thing. Growing up with spina bifida, I was subject to many surgeries. 16, to be exact, the last being an emergency surgery a week after my 15th. I likely have CPTSD as a result of this and other issues in my life. But I do find a beauty in the logic that there is that connection that explains my fetish. It puts my conscience at ease. I feel free to enjoy my fetish in any way that doesn't harm a person.

So true! With me (and my medfet) it was things done to me back then by fearful-seeming doctors, surgeons, dentists. These often involved my mouth and/or being anaesthetised …

A crossword clue for ‘fetish’ l came across this morning was: ‘unhealthy fixation’. I didn't think much of it! Except in an ideal world, fetishes need not be undesirable nor unhealthy, it seems to me!

I sometimes feel like asking everybody l know (well, many of them!) , ‘What's your fetish?' I bet the honest ones would own to having one or two. Not necessarily of a medfet kind, of course.

Today l thought, apropos a recent post of mine (post #8 ), what l would answer if an outsider asked me straight out, ‘Ken, what are your fetishes?’! I think l might admit to having ‘a bit of a dental fetish’, which would be a cover and a euphemism for my absolute fascination with mouths and throats. Going unnamed would be my anaesthesia fetish, and also my exact sexual preferences, incl. the sex and (youthful) age of possible sexual partners. My euphemism for that might be, ‘Well, l have bisexual feelings. Can we leave it at that?' (Unless, of course, l fancied my interrogator, when l might add a question, ‘Doing anything tonight?’!)

I spent a lot of my youth feeling like a weirdo for having very specific and unusual kinks. Would a woman ever love me if I admitted to her that I loved latex gloves and medical play? Turns out, it was much less a big deal than I expected. As I've joked to myself, I never expected that the difficult parts of being in relationships would have nothing to do with my fetish. Sure, there have been certain partners who have never fully “gotten it” or have done it with more or less enthusiasm, but all have been willing to indulge because it matters to them to see me happy, just like any good partner should. It's definitely weird, it's just that as far as weird things go, it's harmless and pretty easy to satisfy.

I think the more difficult psychological damager comes from those early years feeling undesirable for your kink. I'm still working on unlearning that, as medical play so often feels like something someone is doing for me rather than choosing freely. Enemas can be a fetish for sexual gratification, or they can just be part of a person's normal routine - like brushing your teeth. What's weird to some isn't weird to others. I don't think any of my fetishes are weird - although there are others who do and others who don't. Who cares?

Nice definitions, exactly what I remember about what a fetish is. I suspect that whatever your fetishes or kinks are, many if not most people are hypersensitive about them and worry about others finding out and feeling the fetishes and thus the owner of the fetish(es) is weird or perverse or sick or at the very least undesirable. And similar to me, the owner WORRIES they are weird or perverse even if others don’t share their depth of feeling about each individual fetish. For myself, I have pretty well-defined fetishes or kinks numbering 6. I always worried that the first two I discovered, 1) rubber or latex and 2) sneakers would make people and GFs especially feel I was weird because of specific characteristics about them that I happened to adore, including the feel, look and smell of both, as well as other features of them and of my later ones. More detail when I have time later, especially about fetishes affecting true long term loving relationships, which to me are much more important, if occasionally less acutely erotic or exciting.

Yes, just FYI, I‘m wearing almost new or quite clean Keds and Converse low canvas sneakers all day and night except for sleeping today as usual, including right this moment - they are extraordinarily comfortable, and also mildly to extremely erotic. At least for me, other than related fetishes like anal plugs and enemas, I’m not a MedFet lover despite being a real live retired US MD physician, as well as having had many surgical operations from age 0-1 to 13 for repairing extensive facial clefting disease. However of nearly every fetish I’ve ever read about, including on Zity, MedFet in general other than anal and enemas seems to me to be the LEAST unusual and weird thing you could find to have a fetish or kink for. @ericmacson You hit the nail on the head! A lot of ones worries - or guilt - is not because of what they are doing but what they perceive others will think about them for what they are doing. Whether it's a fetish, sex, picking your nose or whatever - we are more concerned about others might think about us than any physical or pyschological harm from the act itself.

I have always had a very oversensitive personality about a great many things, mostly things that most people wouldn’t bat an eyelash over. In real life for years and years, I avoided telling anyone, not just possible GF’s, that I loved SCUBA diving and wetsuits and rubber clothes including sneakers because I didn’t want anyone to ridicule me. Among other factors, go look up “Highly Sensitive People.” I don’t find it a fun syndrome.

@ericmacson when our kids were younger I worried about self righteous people some how finding out and using their judgemental power to affect our family…mostly our parenting abilities.

We have family that are very judgemental, until it actually happens to their family - drugs, alcohol, divorce, separation, and I could see them sticking their nose in and doing their best to do what was right by the children. Meaning they could do a better moral job, their morals…not ours or others.

Now that they are grown and gone that cloud is lifted and we can enjoy ourselves as best we can. What ever we enjoy together, no matter how weird it seems.
