Back in my childhood, all our house evening routine was done almost every time between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. In this interval, we were having dinner, but also a shower or a bath.
Many times, we watched together a TV program or a movie if all this routine was already done before 8 p.m.
Usually, around 8 a clock or after our bath time, my mom required us (to me and my step brother) to change in to our pajamas. Only in this way we were still allowed to participate on any other activity before 10 p.m. when we were mandatory sent to bed.
The funny thing - but also an embarrassing one for me and my brother - was that our pajamas wasn't the regular modern style who was already popular from a few decades. We had to wear some old-style night-shirts home-made by my grandmother who was an old fashion retired nurse, who always had a lot of healthy advices for my mother.
This night-shirts had to be worn without underpants and it was really embarrassing to be sow by guests for example, especially if their lengths barely reached an oversized T-shirt.
Sometimes, due some misbehave, one of us was sent to bed much early. It was also a really embarrassing scene for the guilty kid, who had to say "goodnight" to the others - especially if where guests around. Personal, I was spiteful just because I was really jealous on my brothers if they were still allowed to enjoy the evening with the others, doing what what they wanted. For us, the kids, being treated like a small baby was something embarrassing and we used to be teased one by another regard this.
