Rude / Suggestive Place Names

A Town Named Dildo :

I've been thinking about going on a hunting trip to Canada and bought one of the travel guides to Newfoundland. I could not believe my eyes when I learned that there is a seaside town named Dildo. The next thing is I have to learn why this town got that name. Maybe if it was founded after electrification it would be called Vibrator?

I read this and thought you might be making this up, but when I checked the map of Canada saw that it is true. Too funny, but I would want to visit just for conversation purposes.

I'm not one usually for using coarse language, when there is a perfectly good regular word for what I want to say - but this I couldn't resist and anyway I'm only picturing the word - not typing it, lol.

It's a village in Orkney - one of the Northern Isles off mainland Scotland. There is another with the same name in Shetland - also one of the Northern Isles.

Then there is always Intercourse Pennsylvania. The Amish are there.

I don't live all that far from Intercourse, but also that part of Pennsylvania has Blue Ball, Paradise, and Virginville. I think that if I had seen that town's name in the UK, I probably would have really lost it.

In Holland there is a real party town called sexbeerum.

Newfoundland also has a Blow Me Down Park, also Ass Rock and Ass Hill... and don't forget Shitagoo Lake in Quebec

There is also a town in Saskatchewan Canada called Climax. Worked with two girls who came from there and they were always asked if they were going to Climax at the weekend, Xmas, thanksgiving etc. 😃

And there is always Shaganappi in Alberta. Always struck me(being a Brit) as some sort of kinky thing to do with diapers. Eeeew

Way back when, the part that the oar on a wooden boat rotated on was called the dildo. Newfoundland, being a seafaring place, took that and named a town after it
