GUYS: Have you ever had a varicocele?

I discovered I had one a couple of years ago. Cute young female tech did the ultrasound 😃 . Bothers me occasionally but nothing serious. Doc recommended that it be left alone, as trying to remove it could cause more problems.

Emptying my balls on a regular basis seems to help. Who says porn and the Victoria's Secret catalog don't have medicinal value? 😃

I don't think that varioceles heal with time. I wasn't aware of mine until several years ago but it is likely that I have had it since I was a teen as that seems to be the time when varioceles develop. A urologist commented on it when he examined me for fertility issues and I hadn't noticed anything about it. I went through a boxer wearing period and then noticed it almost immediately. It could be really painful. Switched back to briefs and feel it from time to time but have managed it with snug underwear and wearing a jock for sports and when it gets really bad. Not sure what triggers the pain. Several doctors have commented on it during testicle and hernia exams. One said that he could operate on it if it got really bad but it was better to manage the pain with tight underwear.

I've had it in the left testicle for 30 years. I'm sort of used to it. At first it scared me as I thought it might be cancer. Over the last few years It has started on the right side. The right side it very painful and it will swell. Dr's tell me to wear tight underwear and use ibuprofen for pain. The urologist wants to cut my epididymis off. I'm not too keen on that.

My husband takes him for 40 years, is as small as the tip of a little finger, and it is always the same. He diche which for now does not bother.

Anyone here use boxer-briefs with a varicocele? I just started wondering if perhaps they fall in the middle of the support range, with variances depending on brand and age. Varying levels of support might explain one reason why I have better and worse days when I don't put a jockstrap on underneath.

I am slowly purging the 100% cotton ones I have (which definitely stretch and lose support over the day) as they wear and get ugly enough for my wife to secretly throw out when I'm not looking. Wait, I guess that doesn't count as me purging the cotton ones...

I am digging out this thread because it's on my mind lately.

2 years ago I had right testicle pain and urologist by accident found small varicoceles on the left side. Seems unrelated but still it is something to pay attention to. From what he said it sounded like it's not a big deal but I'm wondering now if maybe should do checkups on this every 2-3 years just to see if it's not getting worse.

If they're not giving you any problems, a quick check at your annual physical exam should be enough.

Yeah, probably should check in on mine to see if it has changed. Uncomfortable at times, but doc said that treatment is not advised until they're really big. Wear two pairs of underwear.

I have one, have for a very long time. Had a couple of ultra sounds on my testicles over the years. It does not bother me much except it is a little more sensitive there than usual. I find that wearing briefs helps. A jockstrap would too.

A friend of mine had the surgery for it when he was in high school. I'm not sure that his was a lot worse than mine but he told me the doctor said it could affect his future fertility.

Yes, I developed one on my left Testicle soon after a vasectomy. Had it checked at the post- op check up. He said it was not unusual after a Vasectomy, but it should not be a problem, but to get a check up if it became painful. That was 40 years ago and apart from being a bit painful if directly handled, it has never been a problem and has remained the same size ever since.

Yep. Varicosecele and hydrocele. Fun times.

I have not been diagnosed with a varicocele, however, I have had issues with non-bacterial ependymitis fairly often when I was younger, once resulting in a week in the hospital on IV antibiotics (My left nut decided to find out what it was like to be the size of a baseball) Consequently, my underwear needs to be very supportive, although it has been years since I have had a noticeable case. If not, I do still get pain occasionally.

Yes. I was diagnosed with the aid of a testicular ultrasound. It has since disappeared.

I do. I have a bilateral varicocele so in my right and left testicle though the left side is bigger. It doesn’t bother me really unless I’m not wearing anything to support it for a longer period of time. My doctor recommended that I wear jockstraps regularly to help manage it, which is what I do. Now every time I see him and I have to undress for an exam or anything else, I’m in a jockstrap. Just what the doctor ordered!

The doctor thought I had one, but later I got an ultrasound done on my testicles and then it was confirmed I didn’t actually have it.

Never had a varicocele but I do have a cyst above my left testicle. I got it checked out a few years ago and the doctor said as long as I wasn't having any pain with it then it was nothing to be concerned about

I had mine embolised by an interventional radiologist. I was awake the whole time and could watch it on a screen. The strangest bit was the catheter going through my heart, I could feel the valves flap against the catheter.
