At my recent exam I was called into the exam room by the doctor. Started off talking / asking questions about my last smear / last period. Then I was asked to undress from waist down behind a curtain and lie on the couch. I wasn’t given a sheet so just laid down naked from waist down and waited while the doctor gathered all the equipment. There were no stirrups so my legs were in diamond shape. I was asked to bend my knees and drop them to the side to open up my legs. Then I was examined internally with 2 gloved fingers to check the position of my cervix. Next a speculum was inserted and opened, and the smear taken. I didn’t have a recital exam.

From all I have heard and read, exams are pretty much textbook in sequence, BP, temp, questions, heart, eyes, ears, breast, pap, pelvic exam, and a rectovaginal exam. There may be slight variations.. but only slight.
I think the sequence in the US and Europe are a bit different. I have read about the US exams that female wait in gown for the doctor. In Europe you have a chat with the doctor first after which he order you to undress in a cabine or behind a screen. In my country your don't get a gown and you have to walk back undressed.Thereafter it was general exam, take weight, some general checks, sitting on exam chair, breast exam, spreading the legs, he opens your lips, speculum exam and thereafter bi-manual exam
Till now I have never had pap. I am 26My order is: Breast...Speculum...BimanualWhat does the doctor do during the speculum exam if not taking a pap?N.
What does the doctor do during the speculum exam if not taking a pap?N.She just looks inside with torch. Even I don't understand. I asked, what's the reason, she says till 30 it's ok to not have a smear unless specific symptoms are there.
Normally for me i chat a bit with the doctor or nurse and asks me all the questions and paperwork, i undress fully and put a gown onCheck a couple of things up top, then drop my gown half way, she/he then does a breast exam first while sat up, and then laying down, and then i need to give them a urine sample, after which they take my temperature rectally, followed by the speculum for the pap smear and the bi-manual vaginal exam, then i get a recto-vaginal exam, and finished with the rectal/anal exam.
@Amanda_OIt starts with a trip to the restroom to per in a cup. Then a nurse asks me all sorts of fun questions. Then they take my blood if it’s needed. Then I go to the exam room to undress. My doctor comes in and asks more questions. She listens to my heart and lungs.I open the gown and she does a breast examNext comes abdominal. Then out comes the speculum. Then she hits me with her fingers. And if anything has to go into my ass it goes I at this point. The nurse comes back I if I’m getting shot. What kind of things do they insert in your ass at the gyno? And where and how many shots do you usually get?
Exams have changed so much since I was younger and not necessarily for the better here in Australia. These days my GP does a Pap smear every 5 years.I go to the breast clinic for a mammogram every 2 years. For my annual gynecologist check, he sends me off for blood tests (sometimes urine too) and a pelvic ultrasound. Once the results are back we might do a quick tele health call or I go in person. In the exam room I undress from the waist down. He does a quick external look, pops in the speculum, maybe takes a swab or has a brief look and that’s it, I’m dressed and out the door.It feels like such a convoluted mess now… a whole series of separate appointments instead of one proper, thorough exam with the gynecologist like it used to be.Honestly, my play exams here on Zity are way more fun and satisfying and thorough than the real ones these days, especially in the hands of the right play Doctor. 😉
