Myths about medical exams

Among my friends, the biggest myth was about circumcision.

We thought that the median raphe (the 'seam' that runs on the underside of the penis, the midline of the scrotum and all the way to the anus) was the circumcision scar. We thought the rabbi cut you there and dipped a silver dollar in the wound. Yes, we were kids, just discovering our genitals.

Recently, during sex play, I had a partner ask if I had penis surgery. My raphe looks like it might have had stitches perpendicular to the seam. I had no surgery beyond a religious circumcision.

So that's where all the silver dollars have been disappearing to ... ha ha

I hated the yearly physical in high school, so I was very sensitive to those rummors that developped amoung pupills when the medIcal exam was announced. There were two main "myths" which went on every year: that the doctor would give us a shot (it never happened), that she would take our rectal temperature (to our surprise, this came true in my last year in high school).

His real interest was checking development.

Biggest myth I ever heard was the Doctor would jack you off until you came, if you didn't he would stick his finger in your bum to stimulate the prostate. Ha! I wish

I didn't hear any myths about physical exams at school. They came as a total surprise, a list of names handed to the teacher with each boy on it leaving class for the nurse's office. Presumably our parents had been told something, had granted permission. We immediately undressed to underwear, taken, one by one, in quick succession before a rumour could start. As an adult, I had appointments which I have posted because of rumours, naked from the start, 'healthy penis' comment, offer to jerk you off, all of which proved to be true.

I remember one of our Pastors telling all of us young boys in a youth group meeting one Sunday that when the doctor looked at our privates it was very easy to tell if we were masturbating and because we were under 18 he was required to tell our parents. One of the boys asked if he could tell how recently we had masturbated and we were told up to a month. This was at the end of summer vacation bible camp, about a month before school and a bunch of us were sweating bullets because school exams started in 3 weeks. Our parents were probably laughing their asses off.

That pastor broke the 9th commandment - "bearing false witness" - to a bunch of gullible kids!
