Early morning breakfast is on , I smell the toast and bacon from the kitchen. My door bursts open and in steps my three eldest sisters and Mom close behind. Mom has diapers over her arm and my sisters have all of my diaper changing supplies in hand. The covers are whipped down leaving in the middle of my bed naked except for the Gerber plastic pants and diapers Mom put on me at bedtime. Mom yanks down the plastic pants and proceeds to change my diapers with the help and teasing of my three older sisters.
Molly bring me that outfit we picked out of the old clothes this morning, Mom called out from my bedroom. I am trapped in the middle of my bed nicely diaper changed and Mom and my sisters slipped a pair of hot pink Gerber plastic pants up over my double thick cloth diapers. Mom and now four of my sisters soon had me dressed in a short pink dress, blouse, bib, knees high socks and white Mary Jane's.
Mom grabs me by the hand and pulls me off my bed and down the hall to the kitchen. There is the middle of the kitchen is a high chair that I am crammed into and the tray locked in in front. With the thick diapers and skirt they tray locks me into the high chair. My eldest sister then began feeding me with a baby spoon pablum and forcing me to wash it down with a baby bottle filled with baby formula.
My humiliating morning diaper change and being dressed as a baby girl took only minutes. The baby food for breakfast took forever and was a far cry from the toast, eggs, and bacon, my sisters and mother enjoyed. The tray removed from the high chair mom suggested the baby girl needs some exercise. Why don't you girls walk the new baby girl down to the store and by some fresh eggs and milk for me?
I was drug out the door and out the front gate with my hot pink diapered bottom and little baby girl outfit on total display to all of the neighbors and people along the street to the store. A crowd of the neighbor kids soon followed us down the street teasing and laughing at me and the humiliating way I was dressed.
On the way back from the store Mrs. Mills a friend of Mom' stopped us for a good look see at the new baby girl. With the hem of my short dress lifted Mrs. mills pulled open my Gerber plastic pants and announced the baby needs a diaper change. This brought a roar of laughter from the crowd of kids following along with us. Much to my shock Mrs. Mills pulled me to her veranda and forced me to lay down on the old couch there. She hoisted my hem and pulled down my plastic pants and unpinned my diapers. I knew I had been set up when she produced some of the same diapers that I had on from behind the couch.
I was diaper changed and sent on my way with the laughing gearing crowd still teasing me down the street. Upon my arrival at home there sat a playpen on the front veranda that Mom instructed me to get into and stay. I spent several hours in that playpen while several people walked by and pointed and laughed at me. My sisters were very attentive on my regular diaper changes and made sure anyone in ear shot heard about my diapers.
That morning ended with Mom having me hang out my freshly washed diapers on the clothes line in back of our house. Since it was a hot day she removed the little girl dress and outfit and allowed me to do the wash in just diapers and plastic pants. Lunch consisted of more baby food and I was put down after a diaper change with a baby bottle full of formula in the nursery crib.
It was 1965 when this happened.
