Circumcision experience with female nurses

When I was circumcised, the doctor was a man and the only one, but in the operating room there were several women, two doctors in practice and a nurse.

I walked into the operating room dressed in green scrub, they made me pull down my pants and briefs to my ankles and lie down on the operating table.

Then they proceeded to clean the area of the penis well with povidone and check if it was properly shaved, then the doctor gave me a few punctures of local anesthesia at the base of the penis and shortly after I think he also punctured higher.

He proceeded to perform the procedure, then he covered everything well with a gauze that held the penis well and they raised my underwear and pants before getting off the stretcher.

In less than 30 minutes it was all over.

When I was circumcised I was under general anesthetic, so I only know that the urologist, his intern and one female nurse were in the room. I had agreed to let the intern do the operation. The last thing I remembered before waking up was counting back from 100 and still being in the 90's when I went under. When I went in for a vasectomy I was prepped by a female nurse, and I was surprised that she commented on my being circumcised and asked when I had it done. I told her I was 18 and she said that it was a smart choice and it was cleaner that way. It felt a bit forward, but I didn't mind. For the record: my circumcision was a much easier recovery than my vasectomy.

I don't recall if the nurse in attendance during surgery was male or female (I bet on female, most are, and especially most were 40 years ago). I faintly recall a lady wearing a surgical mask, was this on this occasion?

Also my circumcision was advised by a female GP and the same female GP conducted the post-op visit, including the inspection of the scar, removal of last stitches, and comments to my mother about how nice the result was.

My circumcision was preformed at 8 by my FEMALE pediatrician... She had seen my bits PLENTY pre snip and she saw the results of her work plenty of times afterwards.

My frenulum was removed at a private hospital. I had a local anaesthetic and the male urologist was accompanied at the operating table by one (or maybe two) female nurses. However, on the other side of the room there were four or five other theatre nurses who may have been clearing up after the previous procedure. I could hear them talking amongst themselves and at one stage I realised the conversations had ceased. I casually glanced over and they were all staring in my direction somewhat transfixed! Eyes met and they quickly carried on with whatever, it was quite funny.

Many years later I had a full circumcision and opted for general anaesthetic. It was with the NHS so performed in a large city hospital setting. Other than the male surgeon and anaesthetist I have no idea how many female nurses were in attendance, probably half a dozen. Two wheeled me into the waiting area and looked after me in recovery.

I wonder if they ever recognise patients when walking around town centres etc?

I don't remember well, since I had it done when I was 6 years old. I only remember one of the assistants putting the gown on me and weighing me, taking my temperature and cleaning me before the procedure.

Not actually circumcision to be honest. But I was in hospital for a hernia at 13. Remember a nurse giving me a bed bath and distinctly recall her holding my penis in her right hand and rolling back my foreskin to clean underneath, all over in seconds but even at that age I can still feel her grip. Often wondered if she went home to her husband and said I’ve had a 13 year old boys dick in my hand tonight lol.

Paul, you just reminded me of a detail at my frenulum op. Laying on the operating table, naked from waist down, one of the nurses came up to prep me. She had a tub of brown surgical scrub and applied it with a pair of roller-like sponges on the end of tongs. After a liberal dab around the area, she managed to flip my foreskin back and do the glans using just the rollers, i.e. didn’t handle me as such. I was impressed with her dexterity, she’d obviously done it many times before to be so adept.

I had a female surgeon circumcise me as an adult with female nurses in the room because it was an emergency, and everyone was professional. I also had a vasectomy with a male urologist even further back and he had one female nurse in the room. The nurse actually injected the local anesthetic about 10 minutes before the doctor came in.

I got circumcised when I was 22 and a female nurse prepped me before the surgeon came in. She seemed interested that I was doing it and mentioned that she hadn't had her own son circumcised.

@nampus Why did you have it done, if it's not too indiscreet?

I was circumcised shortly after birth as was very common in the US in the 1940s and 1950s. I have had no problems and it was done well. But as an adult I consider it Involuntary Genital Mutilation. I believe the decision should be left to the individual when they are an adult, unless there is a legitimate medical necessity. Having it done for religious purposes is barbaric and wrong.

I had a vasectomy by choice at age 32. That was an outpatient procedure.

@Dwayne, you are correct and I do apologize. Several of the responses had drifted off course and I did not pick up on that.

I was circumcised as an adult, at 51 years old. The surgeon was a man, but all the other people, nurses in the operating room, and nurses for care and dressing. It did not bother me at all.

I remember reading about Nathalie Van Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Apparently, she has circumcised thousands of adolescent and adult males, and all of them were circumcised (or had their previous circumcisions revised) in a particular way. She always removes all of the prepuce, as well as some amount of the shaft skin, to achieve almost no movement of the shaft skin when the penis is erect. She also always removes the frenulum and the entire mucosal layer.

I've heard that she discusses the details of her preferred style with her patients but will refuse to circumcise anyone who starts questioning her technique, telling them to look for a different doctor.

A search on the internest results in Nathalie van Amsterdam is also a musician a bio states she's dermatologist and specializes in eyelid surgery. Drooping eyelids is typically done by an ophthalmologist. and she's done 20K operations in 6 yrs. That's 66 a week! a 10-12 operations a day. How can you see enough patients a day to generate that much surgery, and see them afterward. No mention is made of circumsion

Take a closer look at the page. It specifically mentions adult and child circumcisions (besnijdenis). Also, there is a book that was reportedly published about her in 2015 called "10,000 Penises", in which the author claims that Nathalie van Amsterdam had circumcised 10,000 males over a period of 15 years.

It also doesn't surprise me that she performs both male circumcision and blepharoplasty. The procedures are clearly different; however, the prepuce and eyelid share some similarities in texture, elasticity, and structure.
