Most embarrassing procedures

I had a small benign growth in my groin area and had it removed. To be prepped for the outpatient procedure I had to be shaved from my hip bone to my leg on the left side. A young nurse, possibly intern, was given the job of shaving me. They gave her a disposable razor and shaving cream, but no clippers, so she was trying to shave longer public hair without cutting it short first. I told her she should trim it first, and she left the prep area (just a large bay with curtains separating beds) and left the curtain wide open while she asked for help. I already had an IV drip in me, and while not out cold there was certainly some mild tranquilizer in the drip because I could not move very well to cover myself up.

Several minutes later, after numerous passersby walked past the open curtain, she came back with two more nurses. One was male, and he offered to finish the job and demonstrate what to do. He also told her to never leave the privacy curtain open the way she did.

College group exam for freshmen. This was years ago. Being exposed in front of peers was very embarrassing to me back then. Now I would just have so much fun to show it all. Lol.

I’d have to say going to the proctologist. Having them give you a rectal exam and anoscope while the nurse is watching is pretty embarrassing.

My most embarrassing exam would either be a vaginal exam for a bartholin cyst - I went To my GP as I couldnt get a timely appointment with my GYN. He had a med student following him that day and I felt like a science experiment. He let the student palpate the cyst, which was extremely tender, and then I had to have it drained.

The other one would be urodynamics testing. I was referred to a urogyn for unexplained pelvic pain and his policy was everyone had to undergo the exam. It was frustrating bc I felt That test had nothing to do with my symptoms and I was barely 24 at the time, so relatively young and no signs of bladder control issues. The exam was done in a reclining chair with knee rests/crutches and the nurse adjusted it so I was sitting up like on a toilet but with my knees in the supports.

My doctor has referred me to see a Consultant Proctologist. The appointment is in a weeks time. I am so worried he may want to examine my bottom, but I gather I can request it be done by a female member of staff. My doctor, a lovely lady, told me they may need to carry out defecography and anal-rectal manometry.

Unsure. As a kid I was circumcised due to phimosis, and recall an embarrassing post-op visit where our GP and my mother were looking at my penis and discussing it (a bit as though I were an animal to the vet). A couple years later, I received digital rectal exams (for appendicitis) and nobody thought it appropriate to tell me what would be done (I think it would have been less embarrassing if I had been told). More recently, I had inguinal hernia surgery, which meant multiple hernia checks (push fingers up the scrotum), but I guess the most embarrassing part was the catheter that a nurse temporarily inserted to empty my bladder (which was "locked" due to anesthesia).

Can you relate what was exactly the set up and with more details your college group exam as a freshman, why was it embarassing? were you naked ? how was composed the medical staff? how long were you undressed ? in front of whom ?

at least you were not submitted to the same ordeal after the freshman year or you get used to it and were not as embarrassed as the first year ?
