Wear clothing that is loose fitting. No underwear below the ribcage.
On your own bed is the best place, because you have a comfort zone there. Failing that, at least put a pillow under your knees. In a perfect world, If you are a male, you want the same size pillow under your chest. If you are a female, you want the one under the knees just a little bit higher to allow for the breasts.
Make sure you are doing knee-chest, NOT knee-head, that will just give you a sore neck.
Hang the bag so it is approximately 28-36 inches above where your rectum will be when you are in position. Make sure there is a clock where you can read it when in position.
Pee first. Use knee-chest position, so gravity is your friend, not your enemy. Don't hurry. Relax!! Have an old washcloth or hand towel around that is in easy reach, so that you have something to bite down on, or squeeze if things get rough.
Get into position. Wait a minute or two before inserting the applicator.
Make sure the applicator is pointed toward your navel. Make sure it is all the way in.
Wait another minute or two.
RELAX!!!
Take a couple of the deepest breaths you can. Minimum two. No maximum, as many as you feel you need.
Breathe in. Open the valve and breathe out. It will take a few seconds, but you should feel it running. You WILL feel some bloating, and cramping. it's part of the process. Using the bite rag at this point, or just running it through your hands and squeezing it can help. WHATEVER YOU DO, STAY IN POSITION!!! If you got the bag height right, on the first round, when you're still full of poop, it should run about a quart per minute. I find it better to NOT look at the bag too often. Never look at it too long between the time you hang it, and the time it is all in. You'll just scare yourself!!
Take every drop you can. Then you can look up at the bag, and see if there is any left. If there is, leave the applicator in, give yourself a minute or two, and try to take the rest. When the bag is flat, you're done! Now the issue is retention. If the applicator is the straight "drug store" type, I find you are better off taking it out. If it is a flared, "old fashioned" type, my experience is that you are better off leaving it in.
Deep breathing is part of the retention process. You will be on the roller-coaster. One minute you'll feel a strong urge to run to the toilet. the next, you'll feel some bloating and fullness but not so bad. That cycle will repeat. The peaks eventually will get stronger. the valleys won't go all the way down any more. Your goal is 15 minutes, but don't focus on that the first time. Just hold it as long as you possibly can! When you are sure you can't hold it, walk fast but don't run, to the toilet. Putting your hands above your head, and leaning forward a little can help. When you do get to the toilet, RELAX!! let it come at it's OWN pace. You will get one large, watery expulsion right away, and several more over the next minutes. A 2-qt enema should take about 20 minutes to fully expel. Wait at least 20, better 30 minutes after the last expulsion before repeating. Take it easy during that time. Nothing too strenuous.
Let us know how it goes.
Good luck!
Love Lisa.
