Tell patient you are going to give an enema to relieve their obstruction, make them feel better and speed up the relief of their discomfort. Explain this involves a pressure sensation in their rectum which will be released as their stool evacuates.

Place patient in knee chest position if condition allows

With triple-gloved lubed hand, visually and manually locate anus and digitally gently determine slope of rectum

Expel any air from enema bottle

Insert carefully and gently and squirt @ 1/3 bottle, remove slowly and wait 2 minutes

Refill bottle with warm tap water and lubricate entire tip

Repeat squirting @ 1/3 bottle in knee chest position

Refill bottle. Wait two more minutes. This time empty the entire contents into the rectum. Encourage patient to hold enema as long as possible. (It won’t be long.)

I found this on a nursing website. Sounds powerful. What would happen with a new extra fleet?

The Fleet Extra is a regular fleet diluted with water to twice the volume.

I haven't tried the larger Fleet. If they just added water then there isn't any reason to get it.

You can just use their standard size and refill with H2O.

I would think that Fleet knows about their product being used by enema fanatics.

It would be nice if they started selling gallon enemas with various ingredients.

The new larger Fleet Enema is made with the same solution concentration as the original but abour 25% larger amount. Given in the knee-chest position it will go somewhat higher into the sigmoid colon and produce a larger result.

Try opening the larger Fleet Enema, filling the bottle up to the neck with glycerin. Close the bottle securely and invert several times to mix the glycerin with the solution. Administer in knee-chest position as before. If you are giving this to someone who does not suspect what you have done, try to encourage them to hold this solution but be ready. If you don't let the get to the toilet when they really ask, expect an involuntary expulsion to begin within ten minutes. The Fleet solution will have drawn water from the bowel wall and the glycerin will produce a powerful urge to expel.

If it is your desire, tightly diaper the receiver immediately after administering the enema. They will have to fill the diaper within ten minutes even if they are embarrassed and don't want to expel in a diaper. Expect a very messy diaper change.

Actually the Fleet enema extra has exactly the same amount of sodium phosphate and sodium biphosate in it as the standard Fleet Enema.

And it is only about 70% more water, not quite twice as much.

The extra volume drives the stretch receptors a little more, the solution is still VERY hypertonic, so it both versions can draw a lot of water into the bowel.

I tried the larger fleet seem to have same strength as the smaller bottle.
