^^^^ In some respects it does. What I suggest you do is go to a large sex store in a large city, I like NYC, and ask them to let you see how they feel. Some stores will have e-stim generators by a few manufacturers on display and will let you hold an electrode in you hand (NO, they won''t let you insert it up the wazoo) to see how it feels.

E-stim is kind of hard to describe because you can create so many different feelings with it. A couple of thoughts on your problem with the new 'toys':

The connector recepticles on the PES box may be slightly different from the plugs on the penis rings. There are 3 different formats of mini-plugs that differ from manufacturer to manufacturer and from box maker to attachment maker. Suggest you contact your vendor to check if the male and female plugs are a correct fitment.

Also, your rings might just be bad or their design might just be bad. As PRACTICE posted above, definitely try a conductive gel. Before giving up on estim play and the PES unit (which has been on the market for a long time), I would also suggest you buy another play attachment and experiment.

It actually can hurt, yes, but not the general rule. I've toyed with it for a few years now...basic TENS setup with pads. Nice tingly sensations normally, but can be adjusted as well. That's very dependent on the stimulator you are using, how high the power is set and the size of the electrode.
