Female Steth Exams Bra on or off?

Are there any women here who would to tell something about their heart (or lung) exams with the stethoscope. Do you have to undo your bra or not? I myself sometimes have to be topless and sometimes not. Could anyone explain why there are such differences?

I know stethoscope exams are done with bra but may be there are some doctors that do this exam topless

My girl friend who don't want to tell me, when she talk about that with the girls said about a GP for a check up. He ask me to undress topless only with the panties on.

I don't mean to be rude, but for the exams I do, the patient is completely nude from the start.

What about just not wearing a bra next time you visit your GP? If you want to give him a show, try and find something to wear that it wouldn't seem unusual to wear without one but that you'd have to take off for the exam. Or wear a bra that doesn't fit you real tight that would give him some nice peeks while he's doing the steh. Just some ideas if you're thinking about having some fun with him.

My doc always has me take off my bra to listen to my heart & lungs ... even if I go to the "doc in the box," they do this ... usually after the doc comes in, they have me take off top and bra and listen, then let me put it all back on.

I recently had to take my mother in law for a hospital check-up which included an ECG, and the nurse told her to take everything from the waist up off, including her bra... I think she was quite embarrassed about about it being 62, but obviously did as requested for the test.

I guess it is up to the prerogative of the doctor examining you. Some doctors I have been too have had me take my bra off, some let me keep my bra on. Having the medical fetish I do, I enjoy baring my breasts for the doctor while he is listening to my breath sounds, and my heart.

Can you tell us if you like that kind of exam and if you prefer to be with or without bra?

From the point of view of examining the heart and lungs, if a perfunctory examination is required then you can sometimes get the patient to leave the bra on. However, if more detailed examination is required, then taking it off so that you can access all zones is preferred. Clothing sometimes affects the sounds, causing crackling or distortion and if listening for crackles, creptiations or heart sounds this can elicit false information, affecting the diagnosis. Does that help to explain the bra on/bra off question. 😃

I asked my wife and she said it depends on who she see.At the local Family planning clinic she went to 15 years ago.They would have her unhook her Bra and leave her shirt on and do the Breast exam with her shirt on.She now see both a Gyn & Family practitioner.They both have her completely undress into a gown.She also added when she had the exam at the clinic that they never had her lift her shirt up for the exam.The Nurse would do the Breast exam by going under her shirt & Bra

I think it has do with how large the woman's breasts are, and what type bra she is wearing. Some of the bras cover a lot of area, and it is sometimes hard to steth through the material. It is probably mostly for the convenience of the doctor.

Growing up my family doctor always had top and bra off before exam started so was off when she did stethoscope auscultation. However got to keep bra on and just pull topp off when I was around 16 as started seeing gyn so got breasts examined then.

A few years ago my Ukrainian girlfriend arrived at Heathrow and after going through immigration check was taken though to the medical centre for her chest xray. Of course she had to bare her breasts for this because of the interference bras cause to xray equipment.

The (male) doctor who examined her actually apologised and invited her to put her bra back on before sounding her chest!

That’s very unique. I’ve only ever had two doctors but I constantly pump my girlfriends (and I've had a few) about their appointments. It’s reached a point where most of them won’t tell me when they go, or are going, anymore—LOL.

I press them to tell me every tiny detail right down to how they were called from the waiting room to the exam room. I’ve never heard of that procedure and I’m curious as to how s/he examines your breasts with your bra on.

If i was your doctor i would love to see you up on the table with just your bra and panties no gown but i would insist on removing your bra myself and licking your nipples until you get excited and then do the breast exam then i would take your panties myself and put you in the stirups and examine you then i would unzip my pants and put my cock in your mouth and have u suck on it then i would go inbeetween your legs and fuck you until i came all over your breasts

If I were your Doctor Cindy, I would have you remove your bra for the breast exam. Leaving your bra on would be a disservice to you. I would also remove your panties at some point. You would be checked very throughly.

Of course, the bra needs to come off for heart listening as well. Impossible to get a good listen at the apex of the heart (bottom tip of heart) where mitral valve sounds are best heard and overall heart sounds are loudest with a bra in the way. A woman needs to be topless for a good heart exam, as well as the breast exam.

For a quick check I often don't even remove my top. A more thorough exam my top is off but for auscultation I've never been asked to remove my bra.

I was once referred for a heart stress test and was topless all wired up while walking (and jiggling--LOL) on a treadmill, while the male technician looked on. (no gown)

As long as your top isnt too thick there is no need to remove your top or bra, providing you're not going for a full physical for a job

I like to have my patient remove her clothing slowly, one piece at a time only as needed as the exam progresses. I find it much more erotic that way. Having her pull her skirt up above her knees to check her reflexes, roll up her sleeve to check her blood pressure...

She will have to unbutton her blouse so I can listen to her heart and lungs. I will slip the head of the steth under her bra as needed. I will have her hike her skirt up while I lower her panties to take a rectal temp. Then I will help her out of her blouse and bra for the complete breast exam.

Then her skirt will have to come off for the abdominal exam. I will slip my fingers under her panties to do a manual exam of the pubic mound and the panties will finally come off only when it is time to get into the stirrups for the pelvic exam.

I believe they do, because that will allow them to feel for different patterns in breath.

I never undo my bra when i see doctor. my doctor just lift my tshirt, then place his stethoscope under my bra. he never ask me to remove my bra.

oh i have once when i have ECG exam, but it was done by the nurse. not the doctor.

Concerning this subject I really think that all lungs/heart exam on female should be performed without the bra on.Even if it's only a routine check it's easier and more effective like this, the examiner can reach all the auscultation areas he wants for both lungs and heart. I think female patients should be instructed about this being a complete normal procedure, I think that in the actual times the modesty question is completely exaggerated.

At my GP, I have been examined both ways over the years, but I would say most commonly, my bra is taken off. If it is a quick exam unrelated to the chest or heart, the steth sometimes goes under the bra.

My doctor usually has me remove all of my clothing and put on a gown. He usually has me drop the gown to my waist while listening to my heart. I really enjoy this part of the exam.

Maybe I am missing something, but my GP never has me remove my bra for checking my heart and lungs. He simply lifts under my shirt and listens, never exposing anything. My allergy Doctor, who listens to my lungs, does the same thing, no exposure and the bra is always kept on. Too bad for me!

Apart from medical humour, that I also apreciate you did a great find with this forum where you find many interesting opinions about this issue and I picked an example - I think it's from a female medical student

We were taught that you can ask the patient to do it or you can do it for them. I much prefer the latter approach and have never gotten any weird vibes about it from patients. Just push up the breast a little bit, no big deal. In fact, if I were a patient, I would find it odd if my doctor asked me to do it for them because it would make me like they were freaked out about touching my breast, like they thought it was dirty or something. Which it really does not have to be.
