Group exams online

Hi, everyone. I got an idea - would anyone be interested in a group online exam? Like, 7-8 patients being examined all at once, maybe as a school physical or something like that? Of course, there will also be several doctors involved. Maybe each one specializes in a different exam, much like a lot of Japanese school exams.That way, every one of the patient can get a good amount of attention.

Yes, any type of school group physical sounds great. It could be a group sports physical or just a general exam. And either a single patient with multiple doctors, or multiple patients together with multiple doctors sounds good to me.

I think the hard part in doing this would be coordinating where and when. Do we use the zity.biz chat system, yahoo IM or something else?

8 patients sounds like a lot to me. I think you'll have enough trouble logistically just getting 4 docs and 3 patients together.

I've lost track, but I think we're up to 5 patients now (including myself).

Well okay, 5 patients and 4 doctors should be enough, I guess... Of course, now the question is how we're gonna split the exams between us docs. Any ideas?

With 4 doctors, we could do a multi-station setup like they do in group sports physicals. Each doctor does a single station that covers just a portion of the body. For example, station 1 HEENT, station 2 heart/lungs/steth work, station 3 cardio, station 4 abdomen/genital/rectal. That's just an example, the doctors could decide what each station covers. Then each patient would start with station 1, get examined, then move to the next station and so on. Then the next patient would do the same, etc.

An alternative would be to have multi-stations, but run all patients through the 1st station, then they all move on to the 2nd, etc.

It has the advantage of only 1 thing going on at a time, so in a single chat room, everyone (doctors and other patients) can enjoy what's happening without things getting too confusing.

Anyway, that's my initial thought, but this could be done in a lot of different ways.

Alright, that sounds perfect. So, docs - pick your stations! I prefer the gynecological exams, but if someone else REALLY wants to do it, then I'll gladly leave that duty to them and take something else 😉

I think there are two additional things to decide?

1) How we'll actually do these?

I'm in the eastern U.S. time zone.

I'd say YIM is just fine, though if there are objections zity chat works as well.

YIM is good, although if you want to use webcam it can be slow sometimes. I think that most of us have YIM though.

I hope we can actually do this, because it sounds like it could be a lot of fun. But, we've been discussing this since Aug, and so far we haven't done it. I think the problem now will be to find a time when everyone will be available. Maybe we should begin with something less ambitious, and just try to get something going. It could be just one patient and a couple of doctors, or two patients, etc. Whoever is available at the time could join in the fun, or just observe.

I just think someone needs to put a stake in the ground and say that they'll be available and online on YIM at such and such a date and time. Then if anyone wants to join in, things can proceed from there.

I'd like to be a patient for the gyno exam. Of course, it looks like there's been a lot of talk but nothing happening. If someone takes the initiative to work out the details, I'll be there!

Okay, I signed up for an account just because of this thread. I'm a little new to all this and too scared to do a one-on-one online exam right now, so I'd love to get this going.

Who's available on YIM this Sunday evening, 10/23, at 6pm eastern time? We can just go with whatever we have no matter how many doctors and patients there are, plan to give everyone a routine physical for now, and come up with a reason or setting for the exam beforehand based on how many people plan on showing up. I say pictures/video/equipment shouldn't be mandatory so as many people as possible can join in.

I'm absolutely a patient, but since there seem to be more patients than doctors here, I can play a doctor if we don't get one. What does everyone say?
