LARGE Thermometers - How Large

I admit that I like both American-style and European-style glass thermometers. Each gives a different sensation. Unfortunately, it is getting more difficult to find them nowadays in European pharmacies. Even the Geratherm models are now hard to find. Would really like to get my hand on a Geratherm model with a pear-shaped bulb. Anyone know where to find them?

It would be nice to have a rectal thermometer larger in diameter than the small medical ones. I like having my temp taken rectally with all the embarrassment and indignity but normal rectal thermometers give little anal stimulation.

I wonder why they had to specify LARGE or, for that matter, why LARGE is/was important?

Not sure how thick this one is, but they say it is 5" long ---- by comparison, mine is just a tad over 4".

My AM temperature in bed is usually 98.4, by rectum, when i am well.

The only large rectal thermometer that I'm aware of, is the Geratherm, or European style. It's intended to be used with the tip barely inserted into the anus, so you don't have the same stimulation that you would get with a standard American style vintage thermometer, which is generally inserted a few inches, and actually enters the rectum. I've never seen a medical thermometer that was beyond 4 or 5 inches long. It's a "one size fits all," kind of thing.
