I was 23. And I was finally off my parents insurance. Up until then my mom made them for me. I quite honestly was completely unfamilar with how to do it.I found picking a doctor that ok my insurance and finding an appointment that worked for me to be a daunting task. Half of the doctors I picked didn’t has availability for a new patient for like a year. It was crazy. I ended up getting wait listed and they called me when someone canceled.and I only made the first one because mom was pestering me to do so. Apparently annual medical exams are the mark of a truly responsible adult.
I was 18 and at college.I had a couple exams before. My mother toook me to my fist and I asked her not to come in the exam room. I went myself for the second.
I made my first gyn exam appointment for myself at the college health center when I was 19. That was for my second gyn exam. My mom had scheduled my first one for me at 17.
I'm a little embarrassed to admit it but I always try to avoid making appointements myself on the phone, as I'm kind of shy. So many of my appointments were made by my mom or I made them myself right there after the previous examination.
My first appointment was when I was 17, but my mom made that one for me. The first time I made one was when I was 19 and went to college health services hoping to get on the pill.
