I don't consider it odd or weird at all when someone else besides the person doing the exam is present or comes in the room at some point. This happens a lot.
One female oncologist that I see fairly often has a female nurse who will be in the room or may be entering or leaving at various times as needed. My other oncology doctor is male and he is now working with a new female doctor who came in when I had my last appointment with him.
An extra person in the room, or a female nurse doing the exam instead of or in addition to the doctor is something that I have had happen recently. Sometimes a female med student has done the exam and then it is repeated by the doctor. I never know exactly what may occur at the large teaching hospital that I go to.
I have had bone marrow tests done, where I am partially nude, where there is a combination of 5 or 6 nurses and technicians who are all female. I had never met any of them prior to this and they were in and out of the room getting the room set up and me prepped.
The last time I had it done as an outpatient, the nurse practitioner who was supposed to do the bone marrow extraction was late and for awhile I was laying mostly nude on the table on my stomach because the nurses forgot to cover me and did not even notice it for at least five minutes. I thought it was funny that they didn't even notice for awhile and then one of them mentioned that maybe I might like to be covered. They got distracted because they were trying to find someone else to do the procedure.
For those who can't stand to be seen partially or fully undressed, you better hope you never have a major illness. I have several major illnesses, so it is a good thing that I do not have a problem being seen by lots of medical personnel. In about 2 weeks, I go in for heart surgery that I am sure will involve being nude at times and being shaved and having a catheter put in. I talked to the surgeon last week and told him to just fix any problems he sees, as I do not want to be doing this again for quite awhile.
