Hang a bag at 4-5 feet above your body. That will give a pressure of 2-2.5 psi which a normal colon can easily handle. Then just take whatever you can comfortably or slightly uncomfortably tolerate.
The question is how do you know if your colon is normal? Have you ever had colon surgery? abdominal surgery? how long since you had either? have congenital defects? any connective tissue diseases? colon disease like irritable bowel or Crohn's or other erosive colon lesions? There are a lot of possible risk factors--rare, but possible.
If you have no idea where you stand, start slowly, start with your bag no more than three feet above your body, start with two quarts and increase gradually until you have an idea of what your limits are. Build slowly over a couple of months. After you become more experienced, you can increase volumes to 3-4 quarts, maybe more. Your mileage may vary.
You don't get any points for large volumes. Pleasure is more important. Like many people here who tell of extremely large volume enemas--like 6-10 quarts/liters, you can lie, but remember you don't have to believe the super volume enema fairy tales. Make them show you in person. Yeah, right, that'll ever happen. . . . By and large, those volumes only exist in their imaginations.
DON'T LISTEN TO ANYBODY WHO MAKES YOU PUSH YOURSELF OR TELLS YOU TO TAKE UNREASONABLE VOLUMES
