Hi...always wondered something. how painful is it to have your clit pierced? I am a total coward and would not even consider it. another thing....showing your pussy to a doctor is one thing but opening your legs for a hairy tattoo artist type person is something else! so girls what is it like and how much of a turn-on is it? we all know the words a gynae uses to do his business but what does a piercer say to get you to undress and open up!

I am far from a hairy biker type tattoo artist, but I used to do a lot of genital piercings of both men and women. Actually, I look very much like a kindly grandfather; perhaps that is because I am a kindly grandfather.

Now what most people refer to as a clit piercing is, in fact one of the various clitoral hood piercings. The hood is relatively easy to pierce and is not all that painful. The clitoris proper, is very difficult to pierce properly. For one thing, 999 out of 1000 women have a clitoris that is too small to be pierced safely and with proper placement for maximum effect and affect. For another, this is undoubtedly the most painful of all the female piercings.

After talking to my client, I would determine what she wanted. I would then ask her to remove the appropriate garments and check her anatomy to see if she could have the piercing she desired. If it would work, I would tell her exactly how we would do the procedure. If it would not, I would offer her alternatives and let her decide. All very professional.

So how did a fella like you get into piercing our nips and private bits?

I read about the various male genital piercings when I was a kid well over 50 years ago. I decided then that I wanted to have this done.

In the 1980s the modern body piercing movement was starting to get organized in the Los Angeles area. Jim Ward had started Gauntlet and had expanded to San Francisco. When he opened a shop in New York, it was feasible for me to go there and get done.

I had an ampallang and a Prince Albert done there by Dan Kopka. It turned out that I knew Dan's father and was able to get them back in touch with each other. That is another story, though.

I decided I wanted to learn to do body piercing. I practiced and consulted with Jim Ward, Elayne Angel, Dan and many other of the pioneers. I did many piercings for pioneer clients in our area. As more and more hacks came into the business, I got disgusted and with the increase in the more "interesting" varieties of hepatitis, I decided to become a retired piercer.

No, I have never pierced anyone famous. If I had, I would not tell you about it either.

I have, however, been with a couple of very well known women. You will never get a clue beyond that from me.

Having had my penis pierced a long time ago, I have never encountered a woman who saw it to be less than happy with the discovery. Not one has ever objected to how it felt inside them, apparently it was very pleasurable.

On the other hand, disappointingly I have never encountered a woman with a genital piercing. I would think that any woman with a wish to explore her and others kinky nature might use a piercing 'down there' to let her lover know that she is interested in further exploration of their kinky side.

No one should ever get a piercing unless it is done by a trained professional and the piercing area is as clean as a doctor's examination room. There are many excellent businesses that do safe piercing that leave their clients happy and safe.

There are lots of female piercers who will be happy to do both men and women.

My clit hood is pierced, and I chose to do it myself. Now before you have a stroke, I'm an RN and did my homework and used sterile supplies. I would never advise anyone to go poking sharp things in themselves (even though I know people will do as they darned well please). I did this probably 16 to 17 years ago, and I love it as much now as I did then. I don't get any sexual stimulation from it, it's purely aesthetic pleasure. It's just SO PRETTY!!! I wear a small gold ring that is very feminine and unobtrusive. It isn't visible unless my labia are retracted. A hood piercing is a short bit of pain and a fairly short healing period. It can provide great stimulation for the young lady, if it is placed correctly and is appropriate for her anatomy. Only about 1 in 1000 woman are given a clitoris large enough to be pierced and have it work. You better believe that hurts a lot. Consider that the clitoris contains more nerves than does the male penis. Consider the size difference. Now you understand why it hurts.

Vertical hood piercings are fairly simple and heal relatively quickly. Clit piercings on the other hand are rarely done and I would personally not advise them. I have a jacob's ladder and my partner has a vert hood piercing and we enjoy them immensely.

I probably have enough experience to be considered well informed on this topic. To go to the average tattoo parlor that does piercing on the side would be a major error if a woman is considering having her clitoris pierced.

If a woman must have her clitoris proper pierced, she needs to find an active piercer who can provide at least three references that she may talk to. Her clitoris needs to be, at the very minimum 5 mm. across. 8 mm. was as small as I would do as most ones attempted in smaller clits will heal out with bad scarring and subsequent loss of sensitivity. Read what I just said again, it is very important to understand this.

The piercing should be placed through the glans clitoris, not through the shaft. If possible it should be done at 14 gauge, but most have to be done at 16 gauge. This piercing will take 60-90 days to heal superficially. For heavy play, I would suggest waiting at least 6 months.

I did 4 clitoris piercings in my active career. I have since done 2 for friends who deeply wanted this and were highly motivated in addition to being anatomically able to have it.

The only piercers I know of who did more are Elayne Angel, who is not retired and Michaela Grey who is no longer in any way associated with the body modification field.

A clitoris piercing is not for a sissy. All of my clients have said it hurt worse than anything they have ever experienced.

I should point out that I come from the very conservative Gauntlet trained community of piercers. Almost everything I learned was from people who were trained by Jim Ward or one of his acolytes. Strangely, on some things, like avoiding small gauge intimate piercings, I tend to agree with that blowhard, self-promoting con man, Todd Bertrang. His big mouth put him in prison. The last I heard he was seeking someone to castrate him.
