One more Higginson disciple here! Not having ever used one growing up, I am a Higginson convert.
I don’t know that, as a woman, I would choose a Higginson syringe for sensual reasons. My pleasure comes mostly from insertion, filling, and gentle distension, which can be had with many setups.
However, I love the Higginson because it gives the most comfortable, versatile, and effective medically necessary enema I’ve found.
My sensitive colon can be very troubled by air, but combining an in-line Higginson with an open-topped setup, in my case a stainless steel enema can, allows an air-free setup. I simply submerge the nozzle and use the bulb to purge all the air from itself, the line, and the nozzle. This also pre-warms the nozzle, which I enjoy.
The Higginson and its check valves allow the can to be at or below body height, which is very convenient for an enema in bed or in the shower.
Last but most certainly not least, it is great if you have colon spasms. Sometimes it takes more pressure to get water to and through a spasming area than only gravity can offer. The Higginson provides this, but only when needed. There are now very few attacks that an enema can’t resolve.
