Rectal temperature in movies

I remember going to see a movie as a young child (late 1950's) where the opening scene was a young boy getting his temp taken rectally? Does anyone know the name of that movie? The boy may have been Ron Howard...not sure

I do not know if this is the movie you are referring to but this is what was posted on a voy.com forum for rectal temperatures. I haven't seen this movie so I can't help you to see if this what you are referring to. I think this movie is called Misunderstood.

Does anyone know how to get a DVD copy of the movie from 1984 with Jeane Hackman and the kid from ET. Apparently there is a scene that is quite graphic where the boy gets a rectal temp taken.

The scene in questions is probably the most graphic I have seen in a mainstream movie, but it still has its limits. It is not the kid from ET that gets it up the butt, but the other actor Huckleberry Fox. You do see him with his PJs at his knees as his nurse takes it, but the angle is such that your imagination needs to fill in the gaps.

I understand your interest in wanting to see it but when I first saw it I was not expecting it so imagine my surprise as I watched his nurse pull his PJs down right there on camera. If someone told me about it ahead of time I might have been disappointed when I finally saw it because like I said the angle was bad and for all I know he could of had flesh colored pants on. Still with an active imagination to fill in the gaps I have not heard of or seen a better RT scene in a movie with a boy that age. Baby Boom was a great scene, but the fact that the boy in Misunderstood was older and was crying not to have his temperature taken and it was done in front of the other boy (the actor from ET) made the scene very powerful for me.

If anyone is aware of a better one, I would certainly like to hear about it so I too can start an obsessive search for it.

The movie you refer to is "The courtship of Eddie's Father". Probably for that time anyway, one of the most near actual RT scenes shown. The movie was circa 1960s. It starred Glenn Ford and a very young Ron Howard, with Sandra Dee and Stella Stevens.

The Movie in the first post was "Courtship of Eddies Father" but it is not the most near actual RT scene in a movie. That distinction goes to the movie talked about in the second post "Misunderstood". In the Courtship scene, the action takes places behind some strategically placed blankets. In Misunderstood, you see his PJ Bottoms come down to his knees, you see some skin at least from the side and the nanny bending over and putting the thermometer in the right place. It may not be the best angle, but its got Courtship beat by a mile.

Youtube def has the entire Coiurtship movie there. Well, they at least had it a few weeks ago when I checked. Not sure now. The rt part occurs about 30-40 mins in I think. Still looking for misunderstood though. 😢

There was a Hong Kong movie called Enter the Phoenix or Return of the Phoenix that showed an actual rectal temp on a six year old boy. The entire movie was posted at one time on Youtube but was removed, apparently due to copyright law.

The Mother of All Rectal Temperature Scenes probably has to be in the movie "Myra Breckinridge". Raquel Welch plays a nurse and has a guy straped down over an exam table. She drops his drawers, you see the rectal thermometer up close, then she reaches behind him and jestures like she she's sticking it up his butt. The guy of course acts like he hates what is happening, but we know better. The scene also carries on to where she comically fucks his brains out with a strap-on. The one scene that I can recall was in movie that starred the Wayans brothers. It was where one of them was a small man who was a criminal. He had to hide out so he pretended to be a baby that is left on the doorstep of a couple. The couple take in the "baby" and start looking after.

There is a scene where the "baby" is supposedly sick so they have to check his temperature. So it shows the dad undoing the baby's diaper and then he gets ready to take his temperature. But the baby fights back until he is finally wrestled on to his stomach and the thermometer is stuck up his butt. It doesn't show the thermometer going in but you see a shocked look on his face.

In an episode of The West Wing, Martin Sheen, who played the president, who has relapsing, remitting MS, is sick with a fever, which could be dangerous with his condition. His wife, the first lady, played by Stockard Channing, is a physician and she had been fussing over him and taking his temp often. He finally had enough of it and told her if she was going to take his temperature again, it had better be recreationally. The thought of that made me hot. I have a thing for Martin Sheen. 😃

I think they should have more medical scenes like suppositories, enemas, rectal temperatures and other medical procedures in the movies and on TV. I seem to recall it was often shown as a support movie, (in the days when there was such a thing) to "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls" around 1970. It was in the UK at least.

Was anyone watching the Inspector Morse drama "Endeavor" Sunday night on PBS? Great show, and the episode titled "Fugue" had a slight rectal temperature scene in it. An unfaithful housewife named Evelyn Balfour is murdered and found in an abandoned boxcar at the Oxford Railway Station. The scene cuts to Morse and his supervisor inspector standing over the medical examiner and the victim. The medical examiner gives them the rundown, then suddenly we see him reach from below to produce a thermometer. He tells the inspectors her approximate time of death after looking at the thermometer. Well, we know he didn't ask her to hold it under her tongue. She had a short skirt on, so there was easy access for a quick rectal reading. Not the preferable scene where a rectal temperature is portrayed on a living character, and not explicit in any way. But still a rectal temperature scene to add to the ever growing list of scenes shown on movies and film.

I have heard there would be a rectal temperature scene in the film " Baby boom", a mainstream film of the 1980's with Diane Keaton, as a young executive woman having to take care of a baby. This film seems to be impossible to access on the net anywhere in Europe due to copyright reasons.

I can't imagine Diane Keaton herself having her temperature taken, even though I must say I would enjoy the scene, or her taking a baby's temperature, which would be considered as pedophilia, I assume.

Yeah, I've saw the movie a long time ago when it first came out. The scene cuts to the baby laying over Diane Keaton's lap, completely oblivious to what Diane is about to do. Diane, in turn, is very reluctant to stick the thermometer in, and is trying to work up the nerve. She finally does, and the baby doesn't even seem to care. The seen is very brief, and void of explicit content for decency sake. Purely meant to be seen as a comical moment.

The movie is called Little Man. The husband is taking the guy's temperature under his arm when the wife walks in and asks him what he's doing. When he says that he's taking his temperature, the wife (Kerry Washington) says, "He's a baby, you have to do it in the diaper."

I didn't enjoy the scene because it was obvious that his diaper was still on while the thermometer was being "inserted."

I remember when I was all into that t.v. show E.R. (you know, the George Cloony one). I loved that show, then it kind of got on my nerves....ANYWAY I remember a patient on the show was being a complete asshole. The main nurse (I forgot names) had had enough of his crap. She came in to "get" his temperature. He was pissed off and complaining and asking why it had to be taken that way. The scene breaks away for a second, and then you see her come out of the curtained off area, pulling the curtain open so everyone in the e.r. could see. This man is laying on his belly and instead of a thermometer, it's a stick with a big, huge sunflower on it, sticking out of his bare ass! It was a side view, but still funny. Another one I remember is there was some sort of illness running with the staff and patients were getting it too (I think). One of the doctors decided to test the whole e.r. staff, and they had to take a q-tip or something like that and do a rectal swab themselves. Made me squirm!!
