Silicon catheter allergy

Hi

Is anyone here to know if it's possible to develop an allergy to SILICON catheter ? The allergy to LATEX, though, seems to be common

As far as I am aware cathplay, silicone is an inert substance in allergenic terms and so I would suggest it is unlikely to cause an allergic reaction.

As such it is promoted as an alternative to latex which does affect some people.

However, I stand to be corrected. (or should that be connected?)

THX BigK for ur explanations. Is it possible to wear silicon cath during a very long period ? ( 2,3 ' weeks )

Cathplay - my comments were merely opinions and as such you would need to check the veracity of what I said.

I think the recommended period for an indwelling silicone foley is a short period of days but it shouldn't, I feel, be an issue.

If you have been catheterised for medical reasons then your physician will determine the length of time. If you are catheterised in a play situation then I for one one become pretty bored by the second day!

One can become allergic to most anything. However, if an allergy is apparent, say by the third day then simply changing it isn't going to to negate the allergic reaction unless its changed for a different material.

All in all cathplay - pop it in, drain, refill ,drain etc a couple of times and then find another pleasure to enjoy.

It's very strange but true that I become allergic to some materials and products such as " paint solvant " ( white spirit )

Very strange also I wear a large FR 30 latex catheter during a week without allergy. with / without bag. But the same one silicon coated ( blue color) is a nightmare even after 15 minutes.

The big size is not responsible No disconfort at all with the large latex FR30. my urethra is wide enough.

To avoid infections ( UTI ) I take concentrated cranberry pills twice a day.
